Yea, I like it here. Out of all the other schools I’ve visited or enrolled at, this school has been the best experience out of them all. As an autistic, I am very thankful for this school’s inclusive and understanding view on its students. There are flaws, and although this school is not one to ignore those that it sees, I think it is necessary to know some details that aren’t in and of themselves vices, nor virtues. Details like the heavy liberal environment. I, myself, identify as a mixture of independent with some libertarian values. It is sometimes quite irritating when I am seemingly the only one who has something that isn’t a liberal or progressive alignment. However bothersome this is for me, that isn’t to say that the same will apply to yourself. Another detail is the tuition fee. As a student, I think it’s a tad above what’s reasonable, but given the experience it pays for I believe that it’s not of the major difficulties I have with the school. The detail of a smaller school is, once again, neither vice nor virtue. If you are looking for a large public school-esque environment then you may not be satisfied with what this school has to offer. At the time of writing this, the school is k-12th and has under 100 students attending it. Personally, this is one of the main reasons for why I enrolled here. The smaller class size is wonderful as I am given the attention that I had previously been unable to attain. The smaller environment has its downfall, as in exchange for a smaller environment there is a lack of any substantial amount of clubs. That’s to say, there are indeed clubs. However, they’re proportional to the size of the school and subsequently smaller than what would be deemed in a public school setting as “normal”. I don’t believe these details take away from my experience as a student of this school. And I do stand by my view that this is a wonderful school to be at, regardless of learning or grade level, and I’d not hesitate to encourage others to shadow here and see what it’s like for themselves. Don’t knock it ‘til ya try it, yea?

If you want extracurriculars, go to a real high school. There is very limited exposure to all different types of chidren, as the high school has only a few children per class. Not a real high school at all....

With three children attending Friends Meeting School, our family has had the opportunity to work with virtually the entire faculty. They are brilliant, caring, and dedicated. Friends Meeting School offers rigorous academics but, more importantly, it is dedicated to turning out good kids. The kids at Friends are warm and accepting and positive. They don't put locks on their lockers because they don't need to. I can't tell you how pleased we are with Friends Meeting School.

Friends Meeting School's worst days are behind it. After some drastic growing pains as the school expanded, all the systems are now in place for a successful PK-12 program that graduates well-rounded, thoughtful, caring young adults and sends them all to top-notch 4-year colleges like American University, Guilford College and University of Maryland. One student, who attended from Kindergarten-12th grade, has been commended by the National Merit Scholarship committee and has his choice of colleges which to attend.

My teenagers feel Friends Meeting School is the best school they have ever attended. They both have attended other private and public schools. Friends gives students opportunities to find their own voice. They don't teach by memorization only, but through research and interactive opportunities in and out of the classroom. The teachers engage children to research, get involved, help each other, think for themselves and express their opinions. The small class sizes are a bonus. Every body knows each other and teachers truly know each child's learning style. Friends offers a positive, caring, learning environment. I have seen and heard many children come into the school with low self-esteem, and their confidence grows profoundly by being in this nurturing community. We do provide outside opportunities that the school may not offer such as my son's favorite sport. No school is perfect and offers everything. At this time we are thankful our children have attended the school for several years, and the positives out way the negatives. My children do not want to go to any other school. Do not fear the cost because the school can offer some financial aid.
