Our two children have attend Friends School of Harford for the past four years ... and have loved every single day of it! They're provided a safe and nurturing environment where anti-bullying is actively taught and bullying, should it ever occur, is constructively met head-on. Their peers are of diverse backgrounds and the students thrive in an environment of compassion and tolerance. The academics far exceed the norms for even the quality public schools in the region. And the smaller class sizes help the excellent teachers provide truly individualized attention and learning to each and every student. Another of the many remarkable qualities of the school is the fluid interactions between students of all ages: first-graders are friends with seventh-graders, kindergarten students are friends with third-graders, and every other combination. This, with the active involvement of parents and the dedicated board, makes Friends School of Harford a true community … and so much more than just a school. There is no substitute for seeing this yourself, so I highly recommend you visit the school if you think your own child or children might flourish in such an environment, as ours most certainly do.

We were only there 4 months. It was an awful experience for our child. You would think that a school that is struggling to stay open would have been more professional. There is a reason they can't keep students. As a prospective parent I would ask a lot of questions. As a teacher myself, I could not believe the lack of professionalism by the faculty. I wish I could say one nice thing... The website is completely misleading. on a lighter note.... one funny thing on the website is the fact that they boast they have two campuses. They rent space in a back of a church and they were given land to build a school. It is a corn field right now. They are years away from ever having an independent building.... that is if they are still around. There are so many better choices in Harford County. You need to ask yourself about starting a school that you might have to transition your child to another one.

Enrolling our daughter at FSH was the best decision we could of made, the public school system was holding her back (coloring during reading class). She had been at FSH Kindergarten for about a month and started reading on her own, within 3 months she was reading chapter books. FSH staff does a phenomenal job of creating a learning environment that brings out the best in the students. Our daughter has always been very energetic and would want to express herself over other students, this is where the teachers showed a tremendous amount of patience and would always encourage her in a respectful manner to allow others to participate in the conversation and expressing their thoughts and ideas. She has made great strides and now has more self control and takes joy in trying to help others become more involved in the conversation or activity. The faculty at FSH is both courteous and respectful, our daughter goes to school and comes home with a smile that would bring joy to anyone, and we could not ask for more.
