This school gave me depression and when you try to talk to a teacher, they tell other teachers and spread rumors making you look badly in front of them. Children in this school are racist and say hurtful words that they aren’t supposed while teachers are literally deaf and are never aware of what’s going on. Everyone in this school does nasty things like boys grabbing girls inappropriately and seeing many of my friends be sexually assaulted while the boys think it’s okay to laugh about it. Having to experience weird smells and smoke when walking into the bathroom and find out that there are girls vaping behind the stalls puts me in a uncomfortable environment. This seriously gave me sucidal thoughts and being able to talk with a guidance counselor helped with NOTHING. Overall, I’m glad I won’t be in this school for so long because when my peers learn about respect, dangers of doing drugs, sexting, and bullying, they take it as a joke and constantly do these things like a normal hobby. The school doesn’t even try to punish students and when they do, there is no effect whatsoever and kids start doing it again after their punishment. I don’t recommend this school if you want your child make new friends and feel safe and comfortable around school.

I love the teachers and administration at Coakley. The teachers are very approachable and I feel that they truly reach out when my son has any difficulty. I am very pleased with this school.

The Norwood School System needs to be revamped. I have not only experienced but one of the school staff had admitted that my child had been discriminated in this school. I should have filed a complaint but I was so glad to get my child out. However, this has left a scar with my child on the behavior of teachers.

This school is the biggest disappointment in my experience with Norwood Public Schools. The curriculum is far too easy, the teachers, especially in math department are far too lazy, and the school has very low standards. Half of the students did not make proficient on the MCAS math, yet the administrations states that they are satisfied. The 6th grade math team teaches 4th and 5th grade level math. 8th grade math has no real world context it is simply memorizing formulas and listening to lectures by disinterested teachers. The English department teaches writing as a formula causing all students to have boring voiceless essays with no personality. The administrations turns over on a yearly (if not sooner) bases. The few bright spots up there include the SS department and the French teacher. They are the few shining examples of PASSION and ENTHUSIASM in that building. My 6th grader spent probably a total to 4 hours on homework (none in math) the entire year and was bored to the point of tears and my 8th grader did hours of probably 2 hours a night of meaningless homework, both not helpful. More teachers like T Martin, Downs, and Lyons less of Parlato and Wells(should be fired)
