Very positive experience, we love Rashi a lot

Rashi combines excellent academics, differentiated learning, and values-based, whole-child character development all at once in a seamlessly integrated school day. My children have learned who they are and what they stand for. They have gained confidence in their personal and academic strengths and have learned how to navigate towards success in areas of greater challenge. The school staff and administration are all partners in education and know my children well. We could feel luckier to send our children to The Rashi School.

"As noted by a previous reviewer, if you have a child who is academically advanced (or who struggles) this is not the school for you. For the two years that my son was at Rashi he was chronically under-challenged. Despite our repeatedly raising this, and providing third party psychometric testing indicating giftedness along with specific and actionable in-classroom strategies, the school was unwilling to truly discuss or implement any of it. (In contrast the Newton pubic schools had 4 weeks in, implemented strategies that in 2 years, Rashi refused to even consider, and my son is thriving.) Surprisingly for a private school there is a culture of ""this is the way we've always done it"" and a lack of openness to creative problem solving that truly helps to meet the children's needs. This applies both to learning difficulties/differences and giftedness. Promises of differentiation are in fact not borne out by the reality. We wanted to love the school and were strongly encouraged by the values-oriented and nurturing aspects of it. However, the school failed in it's core reason for being: providing an education. Ultimately it provided low value to our family. There were many disaffected families the same year that we left, which is such a pity as individually the teachers are extremely dedicated, lovely and well-meaning."

We have two children enrolled and one that just finished. We pulled our oldest out of public middle school which was failing its mission and enrolled her at Rashi where she thrived academically and socially. Our other two children are thriving here. Rashi has a values oriented culture that permeates every setting at the school whether it be the classroom, the lunchroom, a field trip or the athletic field. Overall we have been pleased with teacher quality and the high attention to detail for each of our kids learning styles. We are glad to be a part of this community as parents.

The children at Rashi feel that they are part of a warm community of staff who really care about their emotional and social growth. Detailed attention is given to prevent bullying and social responsibility. This is illustrated by the school's social justice program, which gives kids opportunity to help causes and to learn how to become active part of society and role models for a better world. We strongly feel that Rashi is helping us as parents by providing our children with an integrated education in which they are becoming individuals with strong Jewish values while receiving important social skills and necessary intellectual development in a warm, nurturing environment.
