I wanted to keep my child at St. Edward till it was time for high school. Sad to say it did't work out. The level of homework was insane. I could have wallpapered my entire two story house with the amount of paper we had in one year. My child does have a add issue. We were totally snubbed when it came to asking for additional help. I did all I could to communicate with the teachers but, said to say only one tried to help us. I found the Ladies Council to be very who you know . I felt like if your child wasn't making the grade then to bad for you. It was very disappointing to have to start over again elsewhere.

Both of my children attend St. Edward the Confessor. I am extremely pleased with the teachers and the administration. My daughter did extremely well with her Terranova test on both occasions. I contribute this to the preparation that the teachers are doing everyday. In addition, I have had nephews and nieces that attended St. Edward and went on to great high schools and graduated from college. Excellent school......

St. Edward was excellent for our three children. We chose it based on its Blue Ribbon recognition, above-average performance on standardized tests without selective admission of students, and physical plant (it actually has grass fields for the kids, unlike many other schools). The pre-K program prepared our son very well and gave him a strong start. Our girls attended through 7th Grade and then moved on to a magnet school. They were well-prepared. St. Edward is rigorous and fairly strict, especially at the elementary level. We were glad we chose it for our children.

My daughter has gone to this school for 4 years and I see a downward trend in quality. One of the Sister's that teach class at this catholic school appears to be overwhelmed by the fast pace of learning that is required in this modern age of education. Several teachers at each grade level are asked to watch their kids during lunch recess, and those teachers do not receive time to eat their own lunch. Therefore they are tired and aggravated and stressed. Discipline seems to be randomly dispenced. For an institution that should be instilling high moral values, I feel that I'm getting an inner city public school type discipline. Talks with the principal have been strange. He appears unable to retrieve information on disciplinary issues from teachers when problems occur. Another major problem is that the Archdiocese of N.O. uses the Terranova as their national standardized. Yet the school does not prepare the students to take it. My understanding is that the school overall does poor in Terranova testing. They do not post the scores. I agree wih Jan 15, 2008 review on what appears to be a lack of teaching being done by teachers and being forwarded to the parents.

I went to St. Edwards from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade and I loved it. I am in college now, and I thank my lucky stars every day that I got such a fantastic foundation. They definitely give lots of homework, so maybe it's not for you if you are not serious about wanting your child to get the best education possible, or if your child is a careless student. In addition to providing a great foundation for not only high school, but even college, the community that is St. Edwards is wonderful. There are so many activities for students, and so many ways for parents to get involved. It's a very family-oriented school. It can be very strict, and a lot of the rules are old-fashioned, but it provides a great education and a wonderful community. It's a great place to grow up.
