I have never had a problem being a student in Shelby County High School until this year. There are too many changes that the majority of the students are not in favor of. I am not blaming our principal, but I recognize that ever since the start of our principal's term, there has been nothing but strict rules, and absense of priviledges, such as: the taking away of senior bell/(in which seniors were given permission to leave school ten-fifteen minutes earlier to avoid the horrendous traffic that we experience everyday now), the taking away of our spirit week and pep rally in the Spring homecoming game, the postponement of yearbooks until next schoolyear, and more. The most notable is the taking away of our freedom to individualize our senior pictures from now on - the most special part of the yearbook. I don't recoment this school unless you seek totalitarian dictatorship.

This was one of the worst schools I've ever been to in my entire life. Their is almost no consistency in the rules that every parent thinks are being enforced. I see tobacco products being used by students all the time in almost every class I have. The dress code is absolutely pointless, and only a few teachers enforce it. Students are able to get away with just wearing polo's in front of the teachers who enforce dress code and taking them off when they get to a different classroom or out in the hallway. In most of my classes, I feel like I am not being taught, only assigned work, and forced to teach myself how to do the work. I would not recommend your child attend this high school.

I love this school overall. The dress code is ridiculous sometimes. The principals can tend to be strict over stupid things. The teachers though, are amazing. I love most of my teachers. We really need more school spirit. Dicipline here is good most of the time. Sometimes in my classes i have that are not honors (one) we have many distractions by other students a lot and it get extremely annoying at times. The dress code is my least favorite thing at this school, it could be a little less strict, and this school is one of the only high schools that I know of with a dress code like this... I wish we could dress normal. Other than that this school is great, it has a fun environment, and the teachers are awesome.

I am a former student from SCHS and I have to brag because SC is one of the best schools in the state. I not only learned educational things but I was taught how to deal with real life situations and how the choices we make now affect us in the future. The teachers at SCHS are completely amazing... I will never forget the kindness and respect I felt when I walked into a classroom at SC. Many teachers stick out in my mind and yet so do the office staff. They seemed to be my favorite people and in a way they were not only workers but friends! I will truly never forget my years as a Rocket and I know because of the leadership and friendship I experienced at Shelby County I will not only succeed in life but I will make a difference!
