Two time blue ribbon school winner. Our oldest is very smart and a hard worker in school. He is two grades above his current grade in reading and the teachers are still pushing him. The staff maintain a positive environment which reflects to the children. The kids know they are loved here. Excellent school for a great education and positive environment.

The school is OK if you are looking for a faith based education. The classrooms can get overcrowded. There is one teacher in each class. There are assistants but kindergarten assistants leave at 1:00 and first/second assistants only stay half the day. There are 3 principals at the school. The school doesn't support that number of student enrollment to validate the need for those three salaries especially when the school is obviously in need of money for improvements with a capital campaign in addition to the other fundraisers for various other needs. The leadership gets defensive if there are questions or concerns. There is some support for students with trouble learning but nothing for those who are excelling. They claim to have something in place but nothing consistent or productive. There is only 15 (if that) minutes of recess. Teachers may take the class out for more when needed but that takes from instruction and dependant on teacher's willingness to take them. Teachers are mostly wonderful, hard working, concerned about students. For the most part, students are respectful. But there isn't a consistent discipline policy in place. It's very subjective.

Admittedly, I am a Mama Bear about my kids. After seeing what was offered by the public system in the area, my husband and I knew we had to put our kids in private school. We looked around the area and decided on CTK after seeing they were nationally recognized as a Blue Ribbon school. We also selected them because we are Catholic and wanted our values taught to them when they are in school. Catholic Virtue is as highly valued as education by my husband and myself. I have been very impressed by both since being at CKS. The teachers do a wonderful job and my kids go each day to an environment where they know they are loved and safe. The kindergarten classes have two teachers per classroom as do the younger classes so the class sizes are appropriate. The minds in motion program offers a great opportunity for the kids to move while learning. My older son has a hard time sitting still, which I expressed to his teacher at the beginning of the year. I have watched closely and have seen that they have accommaded him as well as the other kids who need to move. They are given 2-3 short recesses to burn off energy as well. I eat lunch with my kids once a week and the time seems appropriate for most students. My kids often come home with work and songs from their art/music classes which express kindness toward others and love for Jesus. This tells me they feel free and are encouraged to express their love for God, which is not something they’d be discouraged from in a secular school. My older son was behind the “curve” with Math at the beginning of the year but his teachers have caught him up and his last MAP score indicated huge improvements. In the middle of the year, we had a boundaries issue with another student for one of my kids. Every time I reached out to his teacher, she was very responsive. At least twice, she talked to me on the phone after 7 pm. When our strategies didn’t work, the next step was taken and the problem was resolved quickly in a way that appears to have been both effective and healthy for all students involved. The staff and administration clearly love what they are doing and are effective in their positions. I have very high standards for my kids and CTK school continues to meet and exceed them. Every day I am thankful they go to a school where they are safe, getting an exceptional education, and are learning about our Catholic faith.

Christ the King has no cap on class sizes. In many cases, they will exceed public school class sizes. When our son was in Kindergarten, his class had 29 kids in it! For $6000/year! Perhaps, because of this, Christ the King is forced to teach to the middle. Pray that your child is neither gifted nor delayed. There is no time or interest in challenging a gifted child, and their program for struggling kids, "Raising the Bar," is not well liked by parents. Much of the schoolwork is concerned with MAP testing results and there is little emphasis on the arts, science labs, hands-on learning, or classroom discussion. Expect old-fashioned teaching that doles out busywork and expects kids to sit still, be quiet, and be happy with 15 minutes of recess and 15 minutes of lunch. Overall, the administration is not good about communicating, nor are they open to suggestions. In most instances, they treat concerns with academics or teachers as a parent or student problem. Before they will work with you, they'll suggest assessment or medication for your child. There are better options if you want to pay for school and better options if you do not want to pay for school. On a bight note, the parents are wonderful. They will keep you there longer than is healthy for your child.

Christ the King is not only a wonderful school but offers students some of the most caring teachers around. Academically - it is far batter than public schools. I volunteer and teach Junior Achievement at various public schools. I'm always comparing my son's class & CKS is almost a grade ahead of Fayette County. A former TLS teacher said the English covered in 4th grade at CKS is similar to 6th grade there. I did not attend Catholic school growing up, but I am so thankful for the school & staff.
