I'm an 8th grade student in this school, and a lot of factors about this school are bad. Firstly, a lot of the school is unsanitary. The floors are horribly stained and forever dirty, the bathrooms are always musky and have a strange smell to them, as if they weren't properly cleaned, and some classrooms had giant patches of mold on the ceiling. Their punishments are either nonexistent or overblown. Sometimes we have issues where students may leave a few bottles and maybe an apple core in the gym, and the every student in the grade gets punished for it. They expect all 8th graders to work as one team, but they don't understand that some of us are just jerks who don't care about the concequences. As for other situations, I have literally been mildly assaulted here. At an after school tutoring session, two boys repeatedly slapped by butt, despite me demanding that they stop. I reported them to a teacher, the teacher told the principle, and after almost a month, those two STILL have not been punished. One was even able to transfer schools with nothing happening to him. There is also a few minor things like outright stupid dress code rules, discusting lunch, and a rediculous policy on phones.

I also live in the Boone district and teach at CMS. I also am glad to send my child to CMS.I have been an educator for 11 years and have had experiences in several great schools across the state. I am very proud to teach at a school that not only supports me as an educator but our students as well. CMS makes it very easy for students to get involved and connected. We offer state of the art personalized learning and also students can take a more traditional route. Not only do we start with kids excelling in all academic areas we also have the highest student growth in the district. I along with almost every other teacher in this building love going to work each day to educate, nurture, mentor and care for the students of Boone county. I am sorry a few of you have had bad experiences. If you would have contacted myself or nearly any other teacher we would have listened with open ears and an empathetic heart to try and help your student to not only get a great education but to love and get involved in our CMS community.

Im a teacher at cms and I believe we have a very difficult school and I do agree where you said that the average kids struggle. My son goes to cms and he is average and gets c's im hoping that another teacher will see this and spread the word about our poor school
