As a young single mother, who moved as a child frequently and experienced countless public schools and their cracks... I wanted more; a village for myslef and children. I wanted to know I had more control and envolvement in my Childrens education surrounded by caring staff who support me and my children. It’s become an amazing community for me and my kids, each member of the staff I truly consider a friend, same goes for the other parents. The school can be challenging, but within the limits of what each child can achieve. Every teacher is happy to adjust, problem solve, and apply a personalized approach for what best suites each child. I have a child with ADHD and anxiety issues that can easily be overlooked as just defiant and disruptive. It’s critical to understand what he’s really saying when he has issues. He also has a rare not yet fully understood vision disease that cannot be corrected or fixed, only understood from their perspective and from observation to see when and where they are struggling but not articulating. (For example reading was becoming very difficult with smaller font and worksheets without enough contrast causing eye fatique.... we problem solved, communicated, and realized that when the vision fatigue hit a certain level, or in certain environments, my child would act out or do the bare minimum. Not because of work ethic, behavior, or actual reading acuity, but because they had reached a point where their visual processing wasn’t able to keep up. We adjusted his schedule, seating placements, and the resource room made photo copies of colored worksheets into a black and white more contrasted worksheets. When his ADHD was causing bad days, they helped find ways of redirecting him and stay in constant communication with me and his doctor about how well his medications are working and any side effects so we could adjust as needed. All without ever needing to go through the IEP process he would need in public school) It does require parental involvement and communication of course, but my children continue to thrive, test in top percentiles in all standardized testing, and truly enjoy school. As a result they continue to build self confidence, responsibility, time management skills, and compassion.

We had high hopes for providing our children with a private, Catholic education. Unfortunately this school seems to have lost its way in providing it's students a safe Christian-based environment. Our children who are bright and capable languished at this school. Thankfully they are flourishing in the Olathe Public Schools.

This school is amazing. I used to go here but had to move. I loved the school and everyone in it. It really helped me better my catholic future and I learned so much being here

Prince of Peace I have had several children through this school and I agree with the earlier posts that if your child needs additional help or has any kind of learning deficit, the resources and support are not there. Additionally, we feel the administration is lacking in that school policy is subject to favoritism and bias. Paying as much money as we do, we feel we should have a lot more say in change and direction. From my understanding there are more than a few families who have left the school over the last few years and the prediction is that many more will be leaving this year and next. We are in search of a new school that will provide the nurturing environment our kids need to thrive as well as the flexibility and respect towards the parents that are actively involved and would like more of a say in their schools direction, policy, and overall environment. There are many parents who voice their concerns, however it continues to fall on deaf ears. Maybe the higher ups will get a clue when the enrollment drops to an all time low. Shameful that it will take that pocketbook punch to affect the appropriate change that is needed now.

I wish I could rate this school as good as everyone else but I cannot. I was extremely disappointed! My daughter has a form of autism and even though the teachers, principal and nurse all said they would work with her they chose to humiliate her and had her in tears everyday. The best thing I ever did was pulling her out and placing her in Olathe public schools. She loves it there and they treat her with respect. She is a 4.0 student and they even have programs for her autism.
