I've experienced this school from a parent's perspective of a 2nd- 4th, and 5th thru 8th grade. My 3 kids came here from a high achieving school where they tested for accelerated classes, but at the time I chose Horizon recognizing that their Spiritual development and support was even more important. Horizon fit my children's needs very well, they thrived academically- testing & schedules were adjusted as needed giving them opportunity to take classes that stretched them. My 8th grader was able to take Algebra and Spanish, as well as mountain biking- you can guess which was his favorite! My children cherished their time at Horizon recognizing the roots of their Faith were definitely strengthened. Most of the teachers are truly wonderful, praying for and engaging students in a way that makes them enjoy learning and feel valued. I've also experienced Horizon as a Resource Teacher. I was incredibly impressed with the way Horizon, from the Principle down, values students with learning disabilities. Even though it is a small school, they open their arms to students with ILP's & 504's. They feel called to help all students do their best even if it makes their so called test ratings go down because there is a greater percentage of students with needs there. I've regularly seen teachers stay after to give kids extra help or even skip their lunch because a student needed individual help to take a test. To Horizon, each of these kids truly matter- and the staff considers this- not a job but a mission to truly share Christ's love of these precious kids. And it doesn't even matter whether the kids come from a background of faith, Christ loves All, and so does Horizon. As in any school, their acceptance of kids who may have struggles, can be a distraction to those students who feel they don't have those particular issues. But to be truthful, all schools are made of kids, and some kids rebel more than others. I feel that Horizon truly tries their best to balance Rules, Expectations, & Acceptance. Both my kids and I truly cherish our time at Horizon and would definitely recommend this school. I wish I would've known about Horizon for my oldest daughter during high school; it could've made a forever difference for her to become grounded in faith before spreading her wings in the big world. I can't believe Horizon hasn't grown much more; it's a hidden treasure in our community. Perhaps that small family feel is what makes it special; kids don't get lost in the crowd.

"At first this school was amazing before 2016-2017. But now the rules are strict and if they catch you doing something bad on the web after school hours you'll get expelled. If they see your phone sticking out of your pocket they will take it even if you're not on it. The dress code is getting out of control, they cant even where zip up hoodies. There’s also a no homework during detention. Their security is just sad. they've had student's steal other student's items like ipods, DSI, and other electronics. and they didn't even catch who they were because they have no cameras in every, all they only have them in a few places. They also don't do Active shooter, Bomb threat, or Lockdown drills. they only do fire and tornado drills. Most of the Teachers have favorites, but shouldn't all their students be their favorite? Because I thought this was a christian school. Some teachers give out homework during vacations like spring break. And During their ""prom"" They can't slow dance with the opposite gender. Over all Horizon is going down the toilet now a days."

I'm a student at horizon. The teachers are so invested in the students lives and genuinely care about their wellbeing. Academics are wonderful, I've found it pretty easy to earn A's and B's. I'm going into my sophomore year there next year and plan on graduating there too. I would never want to go anyplace else.

I am SO glad my parents sent me here in middle school. This school is so amazing. Every teacher cares about every student and wants to guide them. Academics are amazing. I currently have a 4.0 GPA and I don't find it hard to keep it that way. This school has improved even my home life as it's helping me to grow in so many aspects. This school is unquestionably the best school I've ever attended.
