Huntington North High School Ratings & Reviews
I am proud to be part of this school. We have great students and a staff that is good but wants to be better. I would only give a 4/5 because I want us as a staff to continue to grow for our kids.
The teachers at this school are extremely dedicated and care about students. Students are respectful and most of them are quite dedicated. Students that have graduated and gone on to college are well prepared.
Terrible High School. I have had four kids and several foster kids through this high school. Poor leadership, "going through the motions" culture, more interest in status and "cool stuff" other than making the changes needed.Want to see the difference? Take a look at Riverview Middle School in the same district. Involved, active, and open leadership (thanks Mr. Crago!), which leads to active, involved teachers, which leads to active, involved students. We've seen principals come and go in the High School and I really want this school to succeed. But I don't see it in the gameplan for this district right now, unfortunately...
Just being honest.. I would never send my children to this school. The size of the school allows it to have a big varity of classes to take, but it's not worth it. The language you hear in the hallways is rediculous. Half the students are 'pot heads' and it's all you here about, since they allow it, you see students smoking everywhere. It's not uncommon to smell stink bombs in the hallways. Fights are a weekly thing too. Police in the halls is not comforting, they shouldn't have to be there! I feel that the school is too big to contain, and not all the staff members are commited. One teacher literally talks about playing video games the whole period... day in and day out. Most of the teachers there are helpful though. I guess if you like the excitment of not knowing what will happen next, and dealing with what they tolerate, then go there, but I will make sure my kids never experience it.
I love my school, it is amazing and I have been loving it ever since I started it. I would definetley recomend this school to anyone who wants to have many friends and a good time at school.
