To give this school 5 stars would be unrealistic. In fact, giving any school 5 stars is unrealistic. Every teacher, school, and educational program has room to grow and become better. With that being said, TLJA is growing and becoming better each day, week, month, year, etc. The staff collaborates and trains weekly to meet each student's needs, whether academic and/or behavioral. We teach the mandatory state standards and assess our students accordingly. We work with families and the community to support our students' education and well-being. Safety, character, and education are our top priorities. While it is true that our ISTEP scores are low, our students are demonstrating growth every day. We work with Meridian for counseling services, Boys and Girls Club for after school care, and our charter partners to create the best learning environment possible. All of our community stakeholders hold the school, teachers, and students to high standards. Each student has individual, unique needs. Some students need challenged while others still need to master foundational concepts. Some students need behavioral intervention plans, which we create as a team. Our staff works hard every day to give our students what they need. TLJA now has a full time special education program for students that require more substantial support for a variety of learning styles. We may have had a rough start, but we are working together to meet our goals. Overall, our school strives to make our students lifelong learners and to build positive relationships with our families and the community.

I would not recommend this school. This is an horrible school. They basically dont care about your children. The staff is horrible, they do not have resources for children that have special needs. I was told that they had a special education program..but they lied to me. The school leader is horrible, she does not do conference just basically has her secretary contact you. If you are looking to send your children here.I reccomend you do not. Go to EACS or FWCS. This school will be closed in less than 5 years.

Timothy L. Johnson is making great strides in improving the quality of education that they provide the students enrolled there. I have two children that are enrolled there, and work very closely with their teachers to make sure that they are being challenged and are reaching there full potential. The school does not have enough(any) extracurricular programs, and needs a full time music and art program, but I am confident that they will implement those programs as soon as funding is available. With the new charter school opening, and the loss of some funding it will be more difficult to achieve those goals as quickly, but the small class size, and individual attention that my children recieve, along with my involvement as well as many other parents will increase the quality of the academic programs, and thus the overall performance of the students.
