I am currently a student at Bellmont High School and I absolutely love it! There are so many opportunities for you academically. Bellmont currently participates in the Early College program and we have Dual Credit and AP classes. Potentially a student could get two years of college in before they are out of high school. Bellmont is a safe environment. There are so many wonderful teachers that would love to help you with any problem you have. I don't think I've had a problem with any teachers. As for fighting, there have been some fights during the year however they were quickly broken up by faculty. We also have many clubs and sports to participate in. Many of the sports don't even cut and if they do there is an opportunity to be a manager and still be a part of the team. Students are generally very welcoming to new people. Of course, you're always going to have those jerks in the school that aren't very welcoming but for the most part many are. I would recommend Bellmont to any. It's a nice small school where people get the most out of education and activities.

I attended Bellmont for all four years of high school. There a lot of teachers that just don't care and it shows. However, there were one or two teachers that went above and beyond to help me with personal problems. Academically, I was bored. I was challenged very little, even being in honors classes. It was easy to do well because the material was well below our abilities. I felt like I had to learn by myself if I wanted to expand my knowledge base. The students were very cliquey, but I suppose that that can be said for a lot of schools. BHS does not feel safe except for the fact that there is a cop that walks through the halls. There were numerous fights every year that I was there. Again, I don't know if this is typical for high schools or not, but it took away from the safe atmosphere that should come with school. There really is nothing that sets Bellmont above any other school. Overall, it is a decent school, but I would never send my kids there. This is why I am moving away from Decatur.
