Eastview Elementary School Ratings & Reviews

Eastview is a strict school that has been through a lot in its years. In its life due to the economy, it had to reduce classes and teachers. Due to a certain illness, the school has lost a student. but it still stands strong with there special ed classes there free bus services and and teachers that get to each student so they wont fail. the the writer below knows none of this but i know for i care. Dont ask anyone who has not worked their or schooled there how the school is. For they don't know. i just know that the school is the best elementary school in and around Steger thank you for reading.

I originally was very impressed with Eastview. Now I am very disappointed. My child's 2ng grade class has 27 children. The 2nd grade was the first to be choosen to be downsized from 3 classes to 2 classes. I don't think the children are challenged to learn as much as they could learn & the teachers are overworked. Now I hear that third grade will be only 2 classes. I continue to inform teachers I am willing to volunteer but they did not utilize me. Very disappointing.

My son attended this school from preschool to 5th grade. All of his teachers were great. I think the teachers work really hard with the kids. I was kept informed about his progress at all times. This school has improved alot especially with test scores. There is nothing wrong with sending your child to this school /the steger schools.

There needs to be more programs in place for gifted students. STEP is great but I feel the teachers should be able to challenge the gifted students and not have to just worry about the discipline in the classroom. I have compared what my children are learning at Eastview with other school districts and our students are a year behind in education. What our children are being taught in 2nd grade, other districts have taught in 1st grade. If more time was allowed to the teachers for teaching the curriculum and less time on discipline and basic social skills, the district would possibly improve.

I think their needs to be more academic programs for the children to be involved in.Especially for those kids needing extra help in reading and math.I think an after school program to enhance those areas would be great! Also, I think there needs to be more extracurricular activities for kids to be involved in to help alleviate any anxiety they may endure during school, and apply any extra energy to a sport so, when its time for class they are focused and ready to learn.Lastly, I think parent involvement is very necessary. We need to Know whats going on in our community schools and most importantly our kids need to know that we care about their level of education and how they are being prepared for their future.
