This school has been the change our child needed. The staff has worked diligently to teach life skills and self help skills. We are impressed by their efforts.

My child has had an extremely positive experience at ICA which has most likely kept him with us at home and not placed in a residential facility, as was recommended by numerous psychologists and medical professionals. In our case, although our child underwent numerous hours of behavioral intervention, as he grew his strength and mis-behavior let his previous teachers and professionals allow him to control his educational environment. At one point in a public school my child was allowed to eat in the classroom and not go to the library because "he did not like those rooms". His OT at school became afraid of him and refused to have him in the OT room fearing for her safety. At Illinois Center for Autism my child was required to transition from class to class and attend speech and OT as detailed in the IEP. Additionally, my child needed to wait at appropriate times when taking turns. Because my child has had discipline at the school our home life is exponentially better. My child, over the years, has learned to follow a routine, and is happy to get on the bus each morning to go to ICA, and more importantly to us, is happier and more disciplined at home, to live with us!
