Never heard of a school that won't let a child get an education because they want to save a parking spot for a "possible" visitor. Have the visitor walk seen as they are not the child trying to get the education. Stop threatening kids with detention because you have nothing better to do with your time besides being a bully. Be a bully elsewhere. If you hear this complaint every day and still do nothing about it, shame on you. Thanks York High School for letting everyone see that you truly are snooty ignorant bullies and careless if a child actually wants to go to school.

As a student I couldn't ask for a better school. All around high quality experience, from the fine arts to athletics and academics York is truly the best of the best. Teachers are always enthusiastic and with an uncanny environment you couldn't ask for anything more from this award-winning school. #ThisIsYork

The public education system at York is terrible. They lack the sense of enhancing learning by challenging. Students' needs are not met, as there are many bright students never challenged enough. Additionally, there are too many students in misplaced classes. Honors classes should be for students who are dedicated and enjoy the enrichment. Regular classes should be for the students who do not seek the extra step in a class. Students who are exceptionally gifted SHOULD be able to go the extra mile, or take a higher level class. Those students who even seek to take a higher level class should be reviewed and strongly thought of before rejecting because they are too young. I may never be challenged at York, and hope that there will be a change in the public school system for the benefit of challenging those students who need and want it. Otherwise, the public school system has been flawed. A great alternative would be enrolling in an online high school; which lets you go at your own pace, and excel as much as you can. Or, there is always the option to go to a higher end school for students exceptionally talented, such as the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, or Whitey Young.

This school is a great school. I just keep hearing amazing reviews on it and my son goes to it and he LOVES it. They have amazing and above average teachers at York. I have to say that there are some that are definitely better than others. Great school and all of these parents who are looking for schools in Elmhurst, if your child is going to be in high school choose York!!

York School needs to hire more minority staff and have them visible and available throughout the school, there is a low turn out of parent involvement because many don't agree with the administration, and the school procedures. I agree with one of the previous comments, York is not set up to assist students with learning disabilities or behavioral issues, bottom line it portrays itself as a preppy school which is not, and is not equally fair to students of all races (minority).
