My son graduated from Rickover and it was THE Best learning and experience of his life, without a doubt. The teachers and staff are excellent, and demand the best of the best from the students. It's a great school and don't let some of the numbers detour you... the school has diverse population with students coming from all different backgrounds. And I can't say enough about the their NROTC program and the Naval Officers that run it ~ you're the best. My son is now at U of I Champaign / Urbana and is accelerating in every class with A's & B's and in the NROTC program that Rickover prepared him for... he loves it and the NROTC loves him, he's a top performer.

I have taught at this school for over six years, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It also seems to me that 90% of the drama spoken about in some reviewers' comments happens very infrequently. As it is with Yelp Reviews, so it is here: individuals are more likely to bemoan a perceived issue, rather than praise something they enjoyed.

This school is very concerned about students wearing their uniforms properly. Big emphasis is placed in looking good and following military procedures in class. It is hard to figure out who leads this school.

This school has lots of bullying going on. Lots of students who go here are either transferring or getting kicked out. It isn't the same as when my older son was at Rickover. My youngest son goes here, and doesn't like it one bit. He didn't want go come to that school in the first place, but I knew it was a great school for him, guess not.

This school gave me so many amazing, fun, and unique opportunities that no other school could have given me or any of their students. If students made the best of the uniform wearing, drilling, and whatever else, they would find that the opportunities available to them are really very fun. You can get invited on trips to different Naval, Air Force, and Army bases to explore, camps where you can meet a ton of different students from other schools, and even learn to sail a yacht. On top of that, the teachers always stayed after school into the late hours of the afternoon (and even early nighttime) to help students with homework and future tests and quizzes. I really loved going to this school and I am glad that I made the best of it!
