My grandchildren attend Washington Academy grades 3 and the new (6-8) Elite classes. I cannot say enough about the well rounded education they are receiving. NEVER has there been a day they have NOT wanted to go to school. Says so much about how well these teachers are doing, not to mention they actually bring home things they are excited to share. Love the uniform policy, too. There is such joy to see my grandchildren love not only learning but sharing. Thanks for giving them a great start!

I could not be any happier with this school and the teacher my son has. We bought our house in this zone knowing we could opt out and go to Kishwaukee. We were heartbroken when we found out it would close before my son even started school. I was in great turmoil going through our different options and the different programs the district offered. We could opt out and go to another school, we could test inro the dual language, or we could give washington a shot. After tons of research, Washington was our best choice. My son did test into the dual language but after really thinking about him, I knew the STEM curriculum would be a great fit for him. Turns out, it was a better fit than I could have imagined. He is only in kindergarten but has made some amazing progress. We love the uniforms as well. There are no fights in the mornings about what he's wearing, ever. Do your research on all your options. Attend the meetings about the offered programs. Don't come on here and whine about the schools when that same issue is happening at all the schools in the district. Know your child and choose your best option for that specific child. This is a fantastic school. So far, we love it.

My child did not want to come to this school because the school he went to for years was closed. However, to both his and my surprise, he loves it! His teacher is fantastic, he loves the hands on activities, and I have had nothing but good interactions from the rest of the staff. I was pleasantly surprised.

My children attended another school in the district last year and we loved that school. Unfortunately the district closed a school and this year my children were sent to Washington. I have nothing positive to say what so ever. Poor Communication from teachers even if you send a note or call they are not responsive. Concerns about the school have been addressed with the district administration they are aware of the issues but do nothing to address them. Very low moral with students and staff, you walk in everyone looks miserable. They do not allow participation in dressing up for Halloween even for the little ones. The only fun holiday activity was cancelled day of without notice disappointing the children. It's difficult to get your kids excited about school and learning when the school they attend does not foster that attitude. My daughter asks me once a week when she can go to her old school. It's very sad we may pull them out over winter break if an alternative can be found but they will defiantly not go here next year. Making Washington elementary a stem and calling it Washington Academy has changed nothing.
