Annunciation Ratings & Reviews

Annunciation provides a warm, family environment with a terrific faculty. The teachers are very devoted to the students and work to meet the needs of all the children. The school has invested much money in upgrades to the buildings, including new flooring and roofs. Technology is very strong as Annunciation has a 1:1 chromebook ratio in 6-8th grades, 2:1 in 4-5th grades, and 3:1 in 1-3rd grades. It is also a Google school utilizing the apps for education. The principal is very devoted to the school and spends a lot of time with the students and knows each one by name. The school has made great strides under her leadership.

The teachers and staff are superb! The many resources available to students and extra curricular activities are phenomenal. A great place for your child to learn the fundamentals, encouraged to succeed, in a caring and God-loving environment. Annunciation provides a well-rounded and rigorous curriculum so every child is prepared for high school.

No Leadership. No Long Term Planning. No good Decision Makers. Father should be looking out for the best interest of all the students, but that is not the case. He allows a small group of parents and staff members to run the school. The school will have 4 principals in 4 years and the new principal has no administrative experience, no certifications and no masters. Father is allowing the principal to get the proper certifications and degree over the next two years. The worst part is the position was never posted to see if there were qualified candidates, but it was posted after the principal was hired (that is being dishonest!). Other than weekly mass, Father doesn’t interact with the children. He rarely attends school functions and if he is present at all, he will show up for a few minutes and leave. The curriculum is outdated and worksheets the kids bring home are so old that you can barely read the copy. Parents think their children are getting the best education, but in reality they are not. The school is lacking in several areas and you will see that when you check out what other children are doing at other schools. The class sizes are large (25+) and only the kindergarten class has aides. The average IOWA Basics scores for the school range between high 70’s to low 90’s with most of the scores falling in the 80’s (BTW, these numbers are not shared with families unless you ask). Check out other schools in the area and you will see the difference. There is no transparency, so you will never know how your money is used or how the school is performing academically. The building is old and they do not keep up with the maintenance. PROS: There are some very nice families at the school. Tuition is low, but sometimes you pay for what you get. The K-3rd grade teachers are very sweet. Before you commit, visit other schools in the area. Don’t make cost your deciding factor because your child’s future depends on it. School is about preparing your child for high school, college and the future so where you send them is important. Annunciation may have been the school to attend years ago, but it no longer is. Prepared students are not coming from this school.

I sent my Preschooler to Annunciation and it was an awful experience. I have a younger sibbling who went here, and had a much more positive experience. The curriculum is great, I will give the school that- for all grade levels. However, i was not impressed with the Preschool teacher. She was very condescending and my child did get bullied. I work far, and when trying to talk to the Principal and the teacher, I was given a 10 minute timeframe before my child started class. I rescheduled and made them sit with me for an hour. There was a boy bullying my daughter, including kicking her. My daughter told her teacher and when we addressed the situation, she said the child wasn't hitting her, he just kicked her- three times. I didn't understand what she meant, physical contact is physical contact. Since then, we had a horrible rest of the year. I volunteered to be on the field trip and sent the papers the week before. They day of (I took the day off from work), I got an email that they hadn't received the papers. Less than 30 minutes before the field trip! I was livid and did not attend. She was horrible, and the school never properly addressed that. I wasted a lot of money there.

I have had 3 children graduate from Annunciation with great results. My children were well prepared for high school and college. This school helped to give them a well rounded experience. All 3 have thanked me for sending them there. This was a good investment!
