The school is a good school if your child is very driven and high achieving. They put a lot of pressure on the students in elementary. The principle and office staff are great! The teachers have to many kids and seem overwhelmed all the time.

I have been so pleased with this school, my son now a 9th grader, has been at North Star since the 4th grade. He was at nearby well rated public charter prior to coming to North Star and I can't say enough positive things about North Star. First of all, I really like that it's K-12. The kids get to know and grow up together which makes for long lasting friendships and I like that I don't have to worry about selecting a middle school and later high school. I like that it's a smaller school where my son won't be getting lost in the shuffle. The admin is so incredibly involved and knows each student. Ms Anderson the secondary principal is amazing and truly engages with all the kids. My son's teachers go above and beyond to make sure the students are getting the instruction they need. The curriculum is advanced and there are IB opportunities for students who are interested in earning college credits while still in high school. I am so thankful I can send my son to a school like this.

We've been incredibly impressed with NS throughout our daughter's kindergarten year. She's grown measurably in all key subjects and is very enthusiastic about learning. They have great systems in place to challenge kids at their own level. My daughter was getting 100s on her spelling tests so her teacher started giving her harder lists. Same with reading and math. When they pass off, they go to the next level so the focus is on improving their personal best. The school really emphasizes personal responsibility for choices in a caring way. The focus seems less on punishing bad behavior than rewarding good. Each month my daughter's class has a "behavior award" ceremony and she gets to bring home her certificate for a game night with the family. They also get prizes and parties for completing extra homework assignments. Many families drive 15 minutes+ to get to the school so it's an environment with a lot of parent support. We also love that the school's IB program gives the opportunity to graduate with the equivalent of a two-year college degree. The waiting lists can be long but we were on the waiting list and got in - so just keep trying if you don't get in right away!

North Star Charter School is the best school I have ever encountered. My daughter has been attending this school since 2nd grade. The teachers here are caring and are so involved. They are easy to talk to and keep parents posted every day. My daughter has excelled here academically as we'll as socially. The teachers and parents have a tight nit relationship and I have never seen such hard work and caring from both the faculty and parents to keep this great school running for my child to continue receiving the best education. I feel that the Meridian school district should stop trying to take away great schools that have such support. There are so many horrible public schools that will receive all of the districts support when instead should close or be redirected. North Star should remain open so that children who cannot attend a private school still have the opportunity to receive a top notch education. Thank you North Star Charter for the best education and caring that you have given my daughter. I will continue to give all my support to this school!
