Lanier High School Ratings & Reviews

This is not a good school. There are so many schools in this county that have better test scores. The faculty is not there for the students. The Counselors don't have time to help the students when needed. It has a high drop out rate. They treat the students unfair. The teachers make a lot of grading mistakes and the counselors don't back the students if they need guidance. My son was a straight A student when he came to this school always a happy kid. But he fell into depression and became suicidal because the staff was not there for him. Teachers left this school after Doctor Grisham became principal. His all about him and what he wants to make his job look good. His a terrible principal. But if you go to the county they have no time for you. My son was bullied and ignored by the counselors when he tried to tell them. He was so depressed I was afraid I was going to lose him. He had to get away from this school. He is so happy now. The drugs are bad in this school. He stated they were talked about around the halls all the time. He was offered drugs and declined them. My son is a great kid. Don't send your son to this school. They will be lost in there education. I also tried to get help from the school but they ignored helping me help my sons education. Parents are not allowed to have any say about there child's education. They shut you out. Before you even decide to send your child to this school or any school research the testing scores and read reviews and learn everything you possibly can. My son did online schooling he loves it..

This school is the earliest in the county and it has a negative effect on my learning ability. With waking up early I can deal with, but with alternating "A day B day" schedule I cannot wrap my mind around. My grades have taken the worst possible turn. Every other day we have an hour and thirty minutes of wasting time and we cannot leave the class room and this lovely waist of time is called academy time. There are 101 things the school can do to improve upon.

My son first full year in this school has been exciting for him. The students are respectful and the school is not overcrowded

Awesome school, just in the begining phases so it gets a bad rep! Still a great school!

Lanier High is not as good of a school as many parents have been led on to believe. A large portion of the student body dislikes the school due to the fact that Lanier piles on excessive and pointless busywork on a regular basis, fails to enforce the dress code, implements bureaucratic strategies that are only designed to keep the dropout rate from increasing instead of actually reinvigorating diligent students' passion for learning, has administrative staff who bullies certain faculty departments so much to the point where the entire department quits, has custodians who are unappreciated for their hard work, and does little to stop the everyday arrival of students smuggling illegal substances. Teacher after teacher has left Lanier to go teach at a new school since they are not happy with the ways of the school and the ulterior motives of the principal, and countless students have either complained about being tied to the school or have decided to transfer. Despite all of these horrible things, Lanier is great at strengthening school pride and engaging with the community. If Lanier High was to hire an entirely new administrative staff and start fresh, then it is feasible that all of the bad things above would become nonexistent. However, every Monday-Friday during the school year kids are being exposed to a wicked and cruel world that exists in the school building. Many innocent students are being sent to a school where they will be completing redundant classwork assignments, walking the halls with girls whose behinds are falling out of their excessively short shorts, attending classes that secretly were only created to at least keep the class awake, watching their favorite teachers be abused so much to the point when they leave the school behind, and breathing in drugs and alcohol into their system in every crevice of the building. Lanier High has a lot of improvements that need to be made, and frankly the futures of the students at this school are in jeopardy unless the students realize that they are in a cult that is only designed to make the principal look good. It is strongly advised that parents think twice before willingly sending their children to this school, and it is strongly advised that students realize just how onerous this school is and how Lanier could detriment their futures.
