SHA develops the whole person. My daughter comes home each day, inspired by her school work, confident in her knowledge, and eager to learn more. Her teacher is vested in her success and has cultivated an amazing community of students and families. Sha is the greatest community our family could ask for

There is not a better school - private or public - in the city of Savannah. If I were to put down on paper all the things that I wished for in a school - individualized attention, respect and building friendships/communities, fostering critical thinking, exploring a diverse set of topics/disciplines (just to name a few) - then SHA is the reality of those dreams. The teachers are engaged and truly love working with children and helping students achieve their highest academic potential. Even beyond that, the teachers are masterful instructors at helping students navigate the social aspects of growing up. My son has flourished in all aspects of his education while at SHA, and we are so thankful that a school like this exists in Savannah.

Mrs. Cocalis creates a magical classroom environment where learning is fun, kids are engaged and respectful, and enthusiasm is boundless!

When I met Mrs Cocolis and Mrs Ameduri, I instantly felt at home. I knew this was the school I've always dreamt for my children. My son has flourished is all areas including his social skills. He comes home telling me about multiplication and he's only 5! If my child shows an interest in a subject, Mrs Cocolis will take the time to teach it to him. These two teachers have the purest hearts. Our family is incredibly lucky to have these two beautiful beings in our lives. No matter what state my husband might relocate to for his job, I am determined to stay here as long as I can so my children can receive the best and nurturing education possible. There is no other school like this.

Imagine if an educator had the power to build a dream school from scratch. If they were free to create a model comprised of the most successful parts of various curricula. The end result would be something that looked a lot like SHA.Mss. Cocalis and Ameduri do a lot of things right, but hereΓÇÖs a list of what stands out to me, a parent of a 9 year old at the school.ΓÇó Modeled Behavior: The teachers exemplify the correct way to act in the classroom (and beyond), especially regarding social skills and conflict resolution. Students are treated with respect and support, and they behave in kind. ItΓÇÖs also in marked contrast to the shouting and shaming that occurred in my child's previous school.ΓÇó Teaching to the Student: SHA differentiates instruction to meet each student right at their own level on each subject. When you approach teaching this way, traditional grade levels become kind of irrelevant. I think this is some of the magic behind the mixed-age classroom. Students get individualized instruction from the teacher, but they teach (and learn from) their peers as well.ΓÇó Recess: Two, 45-minute blocks spread throughout the day! My childΓÇÖs prior school had one recess period at the end of the day before dismissal - when it wasnΓÇÖt withheld as punishment. Before SHA, my childΓÇÖs response to school ranged from boredom to flat out resistance. Now, at SHA. my child loves school. ItΓÇÖs hard to pull them away at the end of the day. I moved to Savannah for work, and I may relocate again before my child finishes at SHA. I loathe that happening, because I honestly donΓÇÖt know if I can find another school ANYWHERE that I am as happy with.
