Hendricks Elementary School Ratings & Reviews

I am moving with the sole purpose of getting my daughter out of this school. Although her teacher was very nice, unfortunately the majority of the kids in the class were not so nice. From stealing to bullying. The children that placed their hands on my child and stole from my child were never reprimanded and my complaints were put to the side. My daughter previously loved school, and at the end of the school year, she despised this school. *Would rather pay college tuition for a private school than send my child to this public one*

As a teacher who's been at Hendricks for a few years now it's disappointing to read all the negative reviews. Unfortunately they are all true. I don't know one teacher at Hendricks that has trust in the administration or that they support teachers at all. Our test scores have gone down hill, the kids are hitting and disrupting classes with no punishment and the administration is non-existent with support. Many great teachers have left within the last year. We even lost the Cobb County Teacher of the Year a few weeks ago due to the horrible conditions at Hendricks...she transferred schools mid year. Many teachers have gone to administration for help and only get yelled at in return. I for one will be leaving at the end of the year. If you're thinking about purchasing a home in the Hendricks area or sending your kids here...think twice...you will regret it.

My boy came home and told me he was hit multiple times in class and at lunch by another student. I talked to his teacher about it and she said that reporting students at Hendricks is a no no...teachers get in trouble when they write up students. Seriously??? I went and talked to the principal Mr. O'Connell about the incident and I was basically told to send my child to private school if I didn't like the way he runs his school. This school is horrible. i'm so glad he's in 5th grade and will be out of that school this year.

I was hoodwinked by the principle to believe he really valued parent input until I advocated on my daughters behalf and learned different. It's true they have lost more good teachers than you would like see, and it's due to the one in charge. He is difficult and not open to anything other than his way. If you notice how the test scores and ratings are not what they were before his arrival. This school has some really good teachers but do understand that this principle has control issues.

Hendricks is a first rate school. The district elementary teacher of the year teaches 2nd grade at Hendricks. Mrs. Knight is amazing. Her love for learning and teaching inspires her students and fellow teachers every day. The school has plenty of clubs and activities. The test scores are very high despite challenges. Ms. M in first and Mrs. Knight in 2nd have been incredible teachers for my child.
