Both of my children are very different, and have had great experiences and learning progress at Kedron. We have loved all of their teachers as well.

Kedron has been wonderful for our family! My kids are happy and more challenged than they have been at other schools. All of the teachers that I know are amazing! Our family loved the kindergarten ones the most. Expectations here are high, and families are very involved. Don't let some of these fussy reviews scare you. All schools have a small group of parents who get upset because they don't get their way. From having worked in schools, I know that sometimes teachers and administrators hands are tied from the state or the school system. If you are looking for a great school, you've found one with Kedron!

We love living in the Kedron area based upon the families of friends we have made. However, we are with the local review populous in that the teachers at Kedron Elementary for the most part are awesome and parents will tell you who to steer clear of. At the end of the day though the consensus remains, the principal, Dr. Turner, is the one who parents have zero connection too. She remains mild, monotone, and rude. Preparation with this knowledge for any conference is important. Just remember that your child is amazing, you are doing your best at raising kids, and don't let anyone make you believe otherwise. And again, always remember that hindsight is very important insight for new families.

On paper, Kedron looks like a million dollar school. In fact, my daughter lasted 1 semester before I pulled her out and put her back in her old school. She receives special education services, and mainstreams for a very small portion of her day. She is non-verbal and would come home crying daily. In a single semester, I requested 4 meetings with her IEP team. I also requested she have certain accommodations that were available to her at her last school (same district.) The principal stated she would not allow those accommodations in her school. After months of tears, and failed meetings, I requested to observe the classroom for a day. I then received a phone call from the principal stating that I would be allowed to observe for 15 minutes, and accompanied by the principal. She also stated that if I spoke about anything that I saw in the classroom or school at that time regarding any students or staff, that I would be banned from those school grounds. (Keep in daughter was attending this school!) That was the last straw for me. I didn't even keep my daughter there long enough after that to schedule an observation. I, myself, went through elementary, middle, and high school in the Fayette County system. My husband also went through the system for high school. My son went through the system for Elementary, and Middle school before we moved. Kedron was the most miserable experience I've ever had to deal with. Both myself, and my daughter were in tears most of that semester. If your child requires an IEP, I will beg you to stay far far far away from Kedron.

If your child is a typical "sit at a desk all day" learner - than this school is perfect. But if your child needs to move (movement/fidget for learning/calms and centers brain) than forget it. There was NO learning going on with my son because he was always getting in trouble for moving in his seat/getting anything he had to fidget with, taken away. The administrators would say one thing but nothing was implemented in the classroom. His confidence and motivation were non-existent and he was stressed in the 3rd grade! We took him out for a year to do a Montessori/relaxed atmosphere which was a break he truly needed. Now he is at a caring private school and has all A's, and his confidence/drive to succeed is there again. Public schools need to embrace all different types of learners (kinesthetic/visual) and get rid of "gifted" programs that say you can only enjoy things like organic gardening if you are a great test taker. Also, the policy about not helping your friend if he/she is being beat up is awful. What kind of morals are being taught?
