We love Mableton Elementary, the staff and support teams are amazing. Everyone I know that works at this school goes the extra mile. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged!

The worst years of my life as a parent. I will recomend to stay away from this school if you can. There are schools with positive environment. I applied for school choice to take my kids out of there.

My child started kindergarten this year and is in the dual language immersion program. She is thriving, enjoying school and has learnt a lot of Spanish since school started. She came from a private school (K3 to 12th grade) and my initial plan was to let her continue her education there. I was genuinely unsure if this move would be right for her but she is happy, learning and thriving and I can not say enough about the dual language program and the quality of the teachers we have encountered to date.

Be careful of the reviews you read. Mableton Elementary is a phenomenal school. There isn't a school public or private that will have some teachers that aren't better than others. The tough part is what you do after you encounter one of the lesser quality faculty members. Mableton is a STEM certified school with passionate teachers who help transform the experience of the students both inside and outside the classroom. I was very impressed by the garden which was the pet project of the STEM teacher, Mr. Splawski. He built much of the garden himself and has seen the project through helping students get hands on experience with planting, maintaining and learning the life cycle of the plants. The staff raised money by applying for grants to get an outdoor track built which is modest but shows they aren't simply there keeping the seats warm. The teachers and staff overall are there to make a difference in the community and that means a lot. I was really skeptical my first year after we got a teacher that was a little 'green' and couldn't figure out how to manage her class. But the administration quickly dealt with that and placed my son with a more seasoned teacher where he thrived. The PTA is inconsistent but that's because involved parents are needed in this school community. One year we have a mostly teacher PTA and the next year it's mostly parents. Both have their advantages and disadvantages but there's always an opportunity to get involved if you're unsatisfied with school events.

It's okay. I guess I should expect it to be just okay for a public school, although the last public school of similar size was superb. This is our first year at Mableton Elementary. Open house was a disaster and my high hopes for this school began to go downhill from there. (Open house was a 30-40 minute powerpoint presentation of what's expected from the student, but the student isn't in the classroom to hear of the expectations. Students are sent off to watch a movie rather than interacting with their teacher.) Much of the staff attitudes here makes you feel the need to be defensive, they talk to you like you are a kid. The nicest person I've come across is the receptionist at check-in. No uniforms for students, and a really laid back dress code for the staff...I mean REALLY laid back. Hope things will get better, but right now, my child doesn't want to go to school, ASP, or any of the "fun" PTA scheduled events. (A COMPLETE 360 degree change from last year's school.) =(
