I know there have been issues in the past (weΓÇÖve been here 1 year) but the school is under new leadership and theyΓÇÖve made strides in the right direction.

We have been at KCSMA for 6yrs. We tried to stick it out in hopes things would get better. They didn't. Principal Frey didn't seem invested in the school. This school should offer more academically in regard to science and math. Instead of constant fundraisers, (we raised money for a playground that doesn't look like a playground and is broken) offer more than just 1 science fair every year. Do some cool math/science programs. Offer a spelling bee at least. These kids are not challenged at all. I feel like my kids were dumbed down honestly. Learning is not fun at this school. Finally time to say goodbye. One is off to middle school and the other going to 2nd grade at a different school. Can't take it anymore. I hope the new principal is able to turn things around. I can't sit around and wait anymore.

My daughter attended this school for five years completing the 2016/2017 school year here. From kindergarten through the fourth grade things just got progressively worse. We hung on hoping it would get better each year as we really didn't want to have to change schools and have to deal with all the adjustments a new school would require. However, this past year was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. Although specific teachers are effective, the children have multiple teachers as they go up through the grades. My daughters teacher team was ineffective at coordinating their assignments and activities. As a result, it was not uncommon at all for my daughter to have multiple tests and assignments in different subjects all due on the same day. The volume of homework was horrific - one to two hours a night. In spite of my complaints as well as parent teacher conferences, this did not change and quite frankly no one seemed to really care whether or not my daughter had a balanced home life after a full day of school. The communication is as poor as others have written about. My daughters homeroom decreased from 22 students to 15 by the end of the year. That should tell you something in and of itself. There is so much more I could write about. But, it's not my problem anymore as we have enrolled our daughter in a different school for the coming school year.

My kids attended this school for three years, until we moved, and the drive was no longer feasible. We miss it every day. When my fifth grader started at her new school (Cobb Cty), she had already learned the material that was being taught, so her new school had to give her different schoolwork so she would not be bored. One thing our family really liked about the school was their character program. They instilled respect, integrity, etc, which was a nice back-up to our family values. The lunch was really expensive bc it is catered. Carpool could be a pain, at times. The science nights were so fun that our kids always brought friends along. We miss those. Anyone with doubts should visit the school and maybe even make an appt to meet with the new principal.
