My daughter goes to the school. The teachers and staff is not worth having a pay check. The teachers and RSO help and hid my daughter while she was listed as a runaway. The JROTC staffers played a major role. We went to court but because my daughter was 17 and turning 18 soon, she was allowed to move out. The teachers, RSO, and counselor helped her runaway twice and refusing to work with Children Service. My family life is better now since we moved out of Fairburn. Take it from I have lived in the area for 10 years and my kids started school there when all of the schools were new and they went down hill fast and never came back up. Last year 2015 the school was ranked 4 and now 3. It is no hope for Langston Hughes High School. If you want to see for yourself just walk into the school and you will see out of control thugs all over the place.

I'm a parent of a 10th grader at Langston Hughes and I think this school is full of great potential with Administration that truly believe in providing a better future for our kids. All the teachers on board unfortunately don't share that same passion; but we can't always get A-1 participation. If you stay involved as a parent and know the administration your child will have a much better school experience. There are alot of great new programs that Langston provides and their communication to parents is great....sometimes annoying but I rather have that than nothing at all. I highly recommend this school.

Walking through this school is like walking through a jungle gym. That's so embarrassing! I'm praying it improves for the sake of those willing to learn and so i won't have to transfer my son.

For the 2014-15 school year alone, Langston Hughes High School has been on the news at least 10 times for SOMETHING BAD. Literally, if you look up "Langston Hughes High" in Google, you will see a result that says someone was shot at a football game. There was also a bomb threat. There was a shootout threat. There was a whole day entirely consumed of gang fights. Then there was some Instagram thing when people would take pictures of others and post them, saying a lot of dirty things about them. And now I am hearing something about "turn up wednesdays" or some foolishness like that. With all that being said, there are just about 4 officers in the school. Not to mention that we are extremely low on staff. Many of the teachers want to leave. Now the principal is gone because he had a promotion. Now administrators are enforcing strict rules about dress code, especially on girls. Sweatpants aren't even allowed! It is 10 DAYS suspension for violating it! Parents can't afford to just go buy new clothes in the middle of the school year, which you can tell by the fact that we have a 72% financially challenged rate among parents here. Something in this must be illegal.

Clean and caring school for the 2013-23014 year since the new principal. The teachers are more engaged in he kids learning and the counselor staff is wonderful in making sure that students are on track to graduating on time and are attending classes that are important to entering a high quality college or university. I nephew graduated from this school and my daughter now attends a junior. Left Fayette county school system to come here and I must say not too much of a difference in learning at least for my child and I am very pleased.
