"As a parent, I loved being able to have continuous access to my son's lessons and grades. Made it very easy to help him with school work and monitor his progress. He enjoyed the academic program overall but missed the social interaction. We went on a few field trips but unfortunately, students interact with their parents and not each other. He was not able to make new friends. We may revisit GACA in high school but my son wants to return to a regular school for a few years at least. I highly recommend this program, but parents please be aware that you may have to ""hold"" your student's hand initially to help them through the transition to a virtual school. They'll figure it out eventually but may need a lot of guidance over the first few weeks."

"I hate this school and strongly suggest that if you have another option, go for THAT. My daughter is an actress and is active during some days, however, she works every day to complete her work. Despite all of that, she continually gets unexcused absences. She gets them because she is required to submit AND confirm her submission in order be considered in class. I also have to mark her hours worked or else she will be considered absent even if she does everything that I just mentioned. That is a total of THREE things that need to be done for her to be considered present. If any one of the things are not completed, she will get marked absent. Common sense would tell you, if she logged into the system and submitted her work, she was ""in class"". Why are these other things necessary let alone mandatory? Redundant and ridiculous!! I hate it!"

"This is the WORST decision I have made for my son! I thought it would be better for him because he has medical issues. I was completely wrong! The work they are basically teaching themselves by reading the ""Lessons"". He's on the computer working 7-10 hours a day including hours on the weekends and is still behind. He started 10 days late in the 2 semester which are half year not quarters. He had to make up 10 days worth of work even though they put him on a waiting list and he was in his B&M school until the day he enrolled. He was an all A student in all gifted classes, now barely a C student and failing his favorite subject. They are bullying and threating students and parent's over the milestones because the school is failing. 7th grade does not have to pass the milestone to move on!!! Only 3rd, 5th, and 8th can be held back and that's only if their grades are poor, otherwise parent's can choose to move their children on based on their grades throughout the year! I have yet to have his 504 plan corrected since the counselor won't get back to me (which is illegal) since he has a diagnosed medical condition. They pile work on them and want them to attend 1 hour live lessons sometimes 3x a day, which is impossible to do both without working 10 hour days. I hate this school and wish I never enrolled him!!!!!!"

We love going to GACA. It was an adjustment at first, especially since I worked full time the first few years, but I love the flexibility of it all. Being able to do school work outside of the home on nice days is awesome. I like most of the curriculum (not a fan of common core but that's out of the school's hands) but I especially like that they have handwriting, which most brick and mortar school have dropped.
