I went to Jolly for 4th and 5th grade and it was the greatest experience of my life. My teachers seemed to really care about me and want me to do well. I wish I could have taken them to middle school with me. My first year was hard but my teachers gave me the confidence to succeed and I will. Mrs. Rosemond ROCKS. I miss Jolly but I get to visit because my brother and sister are still there.

All 3 of my children have attended Jolly elementary school. My oldest is in middle school and I love that his teachers still ask about his progress. A few have even offered to allow him to call them if he needed help with his middle school work. My youngest son will begin this year as a 1st grader and my daughter in 4th grade. I am comfortable leaving my children at Jolly and it almost feels like I am leaving them with family. Mr. Moseley (Principal) and Mrs. Rosemond (Asst. Principal) do their best to provide a safe and friendly environment. There is no such thing as a "perfect" school and Jolly has a few flaws but you are welcomed to do as I did and join PTA or simply volunteer. We as parents are equally as important to our child(ren's) success as are the teachers. I am looking forward to another successful school year.

My children went to Jolly for two years before we moved out of the district. What I loved about Jolly was the love that all the staff gave to the children as well as to the parents. I am happy to say my family has moved back into the district to attend Jolly Elementary. when I found out what school my children were going to attend I was over joyed. I can not wait for school to start.

My grandson's school is Jolly Elementary. All of the faculty and adminstrators with whom I have become acquainted are quality educators, this despite the fact that the area the school services has a great number of immigrant children from all parts of the world. Many of the students as well as their parents do not speak English. The principal of the school has instituted a continuous year round program to reach these students and their parents in order to help the children become successful. Because of the language gap between so many of the students and the English based curriculum, it is difficult for the school's educators to receive high scores on the state's mandated CRCT tests. To me, this must be very frustrating for the educators, because they are penalized if the school does not demonstrate learning skills at certain levels. As a retired tutor married to a retired college professor, I can attest to the quality of the teaching at Jolly. Another problem, on a weekend in April, someone broke into the school and stole twenty-one computers. The DeKalb County School Board informed the school that there was no money to replace the stolen computers. This has made the language problems between staff and immigrant children even more difficult to address.
