The Atlanta School Ratings & Reviews

It is unfortunate to see the nasty things that people are saying about the The Atlanta School, Inc. Both of my children attended this school for 5+ years. What I saw were teachers that were paid very little and worked harder than most. These teachers and administrators loved and nurtured the WHOLE child and it was from that perspective that they taught them. The Atlanta School was their LIFE and they were committed to helping raise strong, intelligent, responsible citizens. They also did this with limited parental involvement. It is unfortunate that the public doesn't know the whole story in regards to why teachers were let go...if you did, perhaps you would retract your nasty statements and let TAS be. It is the end of an era. We are sorry to see TAS go. TAS was active in the community for nearly 30 years and will be greatly missed.

this school was once great. not surprised they closed, i know enrollment was down. they should have made sure all of thier staff were credible and actually accredited.

Such a shame. . . I was one of the school s biggest supporters but now I am truly disgusted by the principal s questionable choices and the unfortunate events that took place at TAS these past few months. . .Half of the teachers were either let go or quit this year. . . Extremely high teacher turnover. . . Most of the current teachers do not have an education background/degree and are not state certified. . .This year alone TAS lost over half of its student body. . . Principal and so called co-principal (don t know what she does for the school) actively work against teachers; are condescending and hateful to students, parents, and teachers; and have questionable disciplinary techniques. . .the nonfunctioning school board is comprised of the principal s family members and friends. . .I pulled my child from TAS after well qualified/educated teachers left the school this past spring. . .Find a different school for your child. . .

The Atlanta School is amazing because it celebrates our children's personalities and talents. It considers the whole child -- both challenges and strengths. The curriculum rewards curiosity and without doubt, is an extraordinary place.

The 2012-2013 school year brought a mass exodus of students. Believe me, they were not without reason. This is what I do know: Not all of the teachers are certified certification is imperative. Every child deserves the right to learn from someone who is educated in the subject, is aware of how to manage a classroom and can comprehend and execute lessons. Split Classrooms are Unsuccessful at TAS. Teachers Do Not Have Lesson Plans Children are subject to learn anything; or nothing at all. The field trips are great, but for those of us, who pulled our students from the school, we have learned a costly lesson our children were not learning appropriate, grade-level curriculum. Mathematics and English Simply put, the school does not teach. Do not allow the administration to convince you that lessons and report cards are individualized for students. I can show you 5 students with identical report cards from two different grades. Demand to see curriculum that aligns with State of Georgia Standards, do not allow standardized tests to be hand-graded and make sure your child can read and write well above grade level.
