My kids have had a great experience

As a teacher, I did not enjoy my experience at this school. The admin is inconsistent which trickles down to the teachers and students. Many teachers and administrators are inexperienced and unprofessional. I would encourage them to hire more certified teachers. The academics are good but the overall culture of the school is not great. I personally would not send my child there. The NEW principal (Reaves) does not understand how to deal with demographic that she leads. I've seen teachers LET students fight and administration degrade faculty and staff.

Wow! I was reviewing this dight for my neighbor and came across the review of my daughter's school and was blown away. The patent review in November couldn't be anymore false. What KIPP Vision Primary School has meant to my family can't truly be described in words. We looked into other charter schools for our daughter because the pupluc schools in our area were no good and we fell in love immediately with the principal of KVP. Her commitment to the kids and her passion comes out in every conversation and you feel that warmth in the school. The teachers care about the students and yes, the expectations are high, but they work with the students and the families to reach for excellence. I understand that KVP may not be for everyone. You are expected to be there for your child and children are expected to reach for excellence in all that they do and for some that may be too much to ask. My daughter was doing math and reading things that her older brother struggled with while she was in kindergarten. I'm grateful for my KVP family.

Don't waste your time, more importantly, don't tramatize your child by putting them in this schools environment! The primary school at the McWilliams Street location appears to be in the business of providing a platform for aspiring "teachers". Inexperienced: "trainees" appear to be in their beginning year (s) of teaching and lack both the strategic skills to manage a classroom as well as the inability to exhibit good work ethic. Add to that a young generation of teachers attempting to communicate common core, what a mess! The principal sells the school well, but crumbles on the delivery of the level of leadership needed to foster a positive school/family relationship. There's a high amount of turn over in teaching staff; Strict policies, military style procedures are put in place for students and parents (which could be good); however, the teachers and administrators are allowed to use an at-will approach which creates unecessary disarray. Kipp Vision operates like a disorganized, experimental training hub for adults instead of an educational facility for young scholars.

It's an awesome school with great teachers and leadership. They had the best test scores out of all APS Elementary schools (2014) and ranked 3rd in the nation on there Math scores when compared to other KIPP Primary schools! The only not so good thing about the school is that the student population is not diverse and the building is old. Aside from that you couldn't ask for anything better. I actually pull my daughter out of private school and placed her here and I'm glad I did it.
