i have a kid at the pre k class, this is a great school, my kids did not speak English when he joined, and they were so patient and caring with him. they really helped him, and now he is thriving. i love the professional staff, they really love the kids. i would definitely send my kid there for next year.

I have two kids in the middle grades and both are very happy at MCGW. The school's curriculum is challenging and teachers are very well prepared. Both kids have done great in test scores at national level, (the school does not do state's) and I like that. I personally feel that State tests are a waste of time since GA is 48th in the country. They have also participated in gifted programs. I am surprised about March 23, 2016 review since not my kids nor his friends have any learning, mental or personality disorders. On the contrary, they are a very smart, nice and well rounded group of kids. Which is why we decided to stay here, instead of facing all the " social drama" that middle school usually brings to the table. It is possible that they are some kids with learning differences or other issues, but since the have the professional staff required, they can offer support to those kids, without affecting the entire class functioning. I also love that they really do differentiation. Many schools advertise it, but they do not do it. We looked at many and this one was the only one doing it. So if your kid is in 6th, but he or she is really good in math, could be working on 7th or 8th grade level. I understands that not everybody's might have the same experiences, but it seems to me that a lot of assumptions were made with no real information. it is true that three kids are in 8th grade now, but there are plenty in 5th, 6th, and 7th. It has been the way for many years that most students will leave in the middle grades, specially boys, but that is changing. Seemed like a lot of "sports" driven parents wanted their kids to start in public middle school teams in order to get later to HS teams. The schools offers sports and sure, they are not very competitive but we do not care. My kids do plenty of sports elsewhere, so what I want from a school is a challenging curriculum, excellent teachers, good management, nurturing environment and engaged community. It has worked perfectly well and my kids LOVE to go to school. To me, that says it all.

Since transferring to MWCDS two years ago, our son's test scores have shot through the roof. A recent test showed his reading skills at a grade equivalency score of 6.2 - not bad for a 2nd grader! - and math isn't far behind. No way he'd be anywhere close to this if we'd stayed in the public elementary school. Our only regret is that we didn't make the move to McGinnis Woods sooner. High marks for the administration and faculty. The amenities are not plentiful or outstanding but some areas are being addressed - a new gym and middle school classroom facility is under construction and will be ready for the '14 / '15 school year. This will be a big step forward for McGinnis Woods. We're looking forward to several more years of great education from MWCDS!

My children have attended McGinnis Woods in both the preschool and the elementary school and I could not be more proud of the decision we have made to have our children attend this school. From the very beginning, McGinnis has felt like not only a school--but also a family! All the teachers in both schools know my children, talk to them about their class work and invest in their lives. the curriculum is excellent--and my older children have had their love of learning fostered in this environment. Low teacher/student ratios help make sure each child gets attention and learning at their level. My children are learning levels above standard curriculum and most importantly have had confidence instilled. McGinnis gives the students a passion to excel--and I have seen it first hand!!

It pains me to see how sites such as this one have become venting grounds for individuals who are vindictive and spoiled. While it is true that not everyone's experience is the same, those who post negative commentary should really take a moment to validate what they say with examples. Is the school perfect, by no means. However, show me a "perfect" school and I will be the first to enroll. What McGinnis does offer is a solid education that is geared toward your child in a loving and nurturing environment. Yes it does not have the sleek and fancy look other schools take pride in because the owners do not believe "fancy" translates to educated! What McGinnis does have is genuine, down to earth caring teachers and staff that know children by name, know their strengths and weaknesses, know when to push them harder because they believe in them, and know when a little hand holding is needed and launching is a must. McGinnis Woods has provided my children with a challenging curriculum, taught them how to be outstanding citizens, and allowed them to test every sport offered. I highly recommend this school.
