St. Helen Catholic School was very instrumental in preparing my children for high school and beyond. The curriculum was challenging and taught well by caring teachers as evidenced in the honors and AP successes in the years that followed. The Christian atmosphere is present everywhere on campus. Friendships built have lasted far beyond the walls. My children have grown into well rounded, compassionate, intelligent young adults who treat others with respect. And that in itself is a true testimonial of a great foundational school.

As a former student/recent graduate, I will not put it lightly when saying that you should not send your child to this school. The school lacks organization and the curriculum falls behind the public school system, making it a more difficult transition for kids to excel in high school. The majority of my eighth grade class had to repeat Algebra 1/go into an academic level geometry class opposed to honors. The school doesn't offer any advanced classes, so as a gifted student, I was always bored. This school is an extremely oppressive environment for impressionable children, especially those in middle school. The students, teachers, and former principal had no respect for one another and lacked manners, values, and morality. Racist and prejudice remarks are a norm at St. Helen. Most teachers simply did not teach and those who did taught things that were completely off topic with the academia. If a student had a question about a problem, the teacher would act like it was an inconvenience for them. As for religion class, all we did was watch a movie the entire year. We were not even given confirmation preparation. Go to a prep or public school and do CCD. You'll be happy you did.

I have been a student since kindergarten and I am nearing graduation. The school, generally has a good education, teachers, and student body. But like every school, there are a few that stand out and spoil it for the rest. New to this year, our old principal retired and was replaced. In contrast to the blatant favoritism, lax on discipline, and uneasy feeling you got around him, the new principal is a major improvement. She has already made things better in our education and is put a tighter rope around bullying, which this school has always had a problem with controlling and solving. Definitely worth it to come here, but you have to know what you're getting into before you do.

St. Helen Catholic School has a wonderful group of teachers and staff. The academic awards that are won annually by St. Helen students. They are well prepared to further their education at the high school of their choice. I can't think of anywhere I would rather send my kids. Our family loves it. The teachers go above and beyond.
