MY KIDS LOOK FORWARD to school each morning when I bring them to Waldorf Sarasota. Waldorf education is RICH in hands-on learning. Some of the delivery methods of the curriculum are: gross-motor, kinetic math through games, vibrant stories that teach about overcoming adversity, plays, daily singing, pentatonic flute lessons, violin lessons, illustrations and careful handwriting in their main lesson books, knitting and crocheting, active gardening on a weekly basis, and learning German or Spanish through games and songs. Students learn about social accountability through community building at weekly school luncheons. The curriculum integrates some form of art, music and/or movement through a cross interdisciplinary approach. The academics are dictated by child development standards, NOT state standards. Waldorf education is by far the most deeply satisfying form of education that nourishes the soul, the body, the heart, the mind and the hands of my children.

We are very pleased to have out two children attending Waldorf Sarasota. Waldorf education is unique in that it is designed around the child's developmental stage, rather than trying to force to fit kids into a traditional educational model (which was originally meant to prepare students for factory life). Waldorf education is very hands-on, and links all of the subjects areas together, so that for example multiplication might be learned by predicting a garden harvest, and in gardening the child can also learn about the carbon cycle and plant genetics. Children are encouraged to think for themselves, and to understand that they are part of a greater societal whole. Art, music, foreign languages/knowledge of other cultures are integral parts of the education. This is why there are so many successful Waldorf graduates, such as Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Aniston, Nobel prize winner Thomas Sudhof, American Express President and CEO Kenneth Chenault, car designer Ferdinand Porsche, legendary German film director Rainer Werner Fassbinder... Our kids love to go to school!

The Waldorf Sarasota school is Definitely not the school for your child if reading and writing are important to you and your child, even if a child expresses a desire to read it is discouraged. The disorganization and the fact they do not follow the guide lines of a typical Waldorf school makes them a VERY BAD choice

HI LET ME BEGIN BY SAYING MY WIFE AND I HAVE SENT 7 OF OUR 8 CHILDREN THROUGH THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.I WAS AMAZED HOW THE WALDORF SCHOOL HAS BROUGHT OUR 1ST GRADER TO A NEW AWARENESS AND SELF BEING THAT NONE OF MY OTHER CHILDREN HAVE EXPERIENCED. SHE NOW WAKES IN THEORNING WITH A NEW SPIRIT ABOUT SCHOOL AND HERSELF. BRAVO TO THE WALDORF.. IT IS LIKE NO OTHER JERRY RIEGLER

This school provides a supportive, loving environment where children enjoy discovering, experiencing and learning. Subject matter is introduced in an engaging manner and in different forms so that the children really can absorb what they are learning. Art and music are woven throughout the curriculum and it is a pleasure to watch the children learn the core academics while also having a strong appreciation for the arts.
