I absolutely LOVE RCSSL! When weighing our options for our son, we were actually told by an administrator at the other nearby school, that he would get a much better education at RCSSL. That was all we needed to hear to make our decision. It is, by far, the best decision that we have made. RCSSL encourages parent involvement and always has events for the students. My sons teacher, Mrs. Thornhill has been wonderful not just with my son, but all of her kids. She treats all of them as her own. The principal, Mrs. Coburn, the front office staff as well as Mrs. Todd, Mrs. Marchitto and Mr. Wade all go above and beyond for their students. We are so grateful that we chose RCSSL!

I know we made the right decision when we moved my son to this school! Yes it is not perfect but what school is? I feel at peace that my son is learning to the best of his capacity! A lot of reviews I read talk about that the school is a (B) school and no longer an (A) and it seems that people are blaming the teachers! I can only speak from my experience, my son came from a totally different curriculum and yes he was struggling at first but we didn’t give up! We have worked so hard at home and he has also at school that I was so proud that he made the honor roll! So what I am trying to say is that we also have a big part on the School’s Overall grade we can not just blame the teachers! I love the school!

Our students attended this school for 4 years. The first year went well but we have seen a major decline since then. The first issue I have seen is with the quality of teachers. This school has a major teacher turnover. Year after year teachers come and go. Many teachers leave mid school year which has a negative affect on students. Many come in as first time teachers. It seems like those teachers do not receive enough support as the classrooms can be like a zoo. The student to teacher ratio exceeds the public school's limits. RCST is 22:1 and as high as to 26:1, where public schools are 18:1. There is a major push on homework which can get excessive and a focus on testing. The way the school deals with classroom management is poor as well as their methods of disciplining. On many occasions they utilize whole classroom punishments, even when there are some students who follow the rules. They restrict recess as a punishment. We have experienced first hand disability discrimination by both teachers and administration. Our student was also subject to segregation and other mistreatment through most of the school year. The administration does not properly identify and support students with special needs and disabilities. If your student needs IEP or 504 accommodations, you need to follow up and stay on top of the school to make sure your students gets what they needs. I strongly advise parents to do research and inform yourselves of your student's rights and to be their advocate. The school on many occasions gave incorrect or misleading information. They have also dragged out setting important meetings, causing the student to go through the school year without getting accommodations. There are schools that are better equipped to support students with needs. The car loop and traffic is an issue every year. There are no buses at the school and the school has no intentions of ever offering them. For this reason, there is a large number cars. Pick up is a 30 minute wait on average. Many of the issues in this school stem from management. The principal is also employed as a Charter USA district leader. This causes her to be off campus often. BTW, Charter USA doesn't respond or help.Major lack in communication both teacher and school. There is so much more but there is not enough room to list all here.
