New Horizons? No, RUN for the horizon!! Please don't ever think about bringing your child to this school! We were very, very disappointed as this school came very highly recommend to us but it was the absolute worst experience our child could ever have! First, as many others have commented the pre-school director is NOT a peoples person at all and absolutely has no caring or compassion towards students or family members. The staff ranges from very young to very old teachers but found the lack of professionalism and attitude to be pretty consistent. Most of the pre-school teachers we encountered at this school seemed to bully children into whatever they require. For example, if you child doesn't come in from the playground when being called, after they gather up all the other children and bring them in the classroom (leaving your child outside attended with another teacher); they will bring your child back into the class and publicly shame them in front of the other students as an example of what not to do then make them stand on a little piece of masking tape on the carpet that they have labeled a 'time-out zone'. If your child is strong willed, special needs, thrives on compassion and positive re-enforcement, he or she will not do well here. Sensitive and compassionate children at this school are easy targets of teacher bullying. The staff here does enjoy the whole 'private school' umbrella and the control it wields over the students and parents a-like by constantly reinforcing the whole 'our way or the highway' attitude if you don't like it. I do hope this review spares an innocent family that is seriously contemplating this school the agony and grief that our family and child went through here. After pulling our child from this school, he thrived and did so well at the next pre-school we put him in mainly because the staff was kind, compassionate, and positive inspirations.

Disappointing. The elementary school is extremely small with a total average of 10-18 students in grades k-5. This school has a horrible staff and owner. I witnessed teachers verbally mock students for having likes or dislikes towards foods or hobbies. I saw students in tears over being forced to eat something at lunch. Additionally, the teachers take away students recess time as punishment for simple mistakes for example; 15 minutes of recess lost due to parents forgetting to sign communication log, or students needing to use the bathroom during lunch time. My child was afraid to speak up about anything because of the intimidation and threats from the staff. Ultimately, this school is about collecting that tuition and power; they enjoy the power they retain over the students and the parents. Too much negative words and situations with this school.

Our experience at this school left us heartbroken. If you are a parent of a child with special needs, we do not recommend this school. We trusted this school based on our interview with the principle/owner. It's also an approved McKay Scholarship school. Our son has Agenesis of the corpus Callosum, ADHD, and Autism. He did well academically. However, he still needed accomodations, compassion and understanding. This school refused to make accomodations. They often punished him for many things that related to his disability. They took recess away often even with the knowledge that he had ADHD absolutely ignoring his needs. Our son was afraid to eat his snacks out of his lunch box and even his bottled water. He started having extreme anxiety and panic attacks when he came home. We realized that we clearly had conflicting philosophies on how to treat children. We felt helpless and completely misled by this school. We made several unsuccessful attempts to try and come to an understanding. The lack of empathy and compassion from the principle/owner of this school was so disappointing. Even though we are heartbroken that we selected the wrong school, we have learned a lot about our son's rights, and we do not want this to happen to future children with special needs which is why we wrote this review.

I was sad to have to take my daughter out of this school. The staff is fantastic, they taught her so much and she tells me she misses it every day. Leila says hi! We love you guys

My daughter attended New Horizons for the three year old program and VPK. She truly enjoyed going to school there and I would highly recommend New Horizons as a school. The staff and administration were very supportive during her attendance.
