my oldest son attended this school and teachers are exceptional. He got all A's without much attention from us. Band and orchestra teachers are a blessing to the school. I can not wait until my second son starts his journey this year.

My son is new to this school he went from straight A's and B's in a previous school to failing his classes. Had no clue that he was failing his classes since we did not have access to his online grades and no notification from his teachers until we received a report card. Called and emailed both the principal and counselor with no response back. Classes are done all on iPad which is a joke it takes him twice as long to do assignments because of the constant flipping between applications. I now see why people say Florida has the worst educational system because if this is what is considered top education you have got to be kidding me it is a joke.

Love this school because of the amazing faculty and staff! We have had a positive experience with our daughter who will now be entering into the 8th grade. The teachers have all responded immediately to any concerns and have accommodated my daughter with extra support academically. The principal is amazing and runs a great school with teachers who care to try hard enough to lead students into a successful future. As with any school, just keep a close eye on the influences friends.

Being new to Orlando I was obviously nervous about my daughter going to a new school. Not to mention middle school! I absolutely love HCMS..... Ms. Berry, teaching band is a great leader and truly cares about her profession. Mr. Larkin, who is the drama teacher also cares deeply for the kids and his teaching. My daughter's core teachers are also wonderful. The digital curriculum engages the students and makes learning "cool". When I call up to the school they are friendly too. HCMS is wonderful and if you are able to go here you are very lucky. Take full advantage of every possible opportunity.

This is one of the best middle schools in the District. The new principal is excellent, and handled a huge challenge of coming in to her new role during the first year of a digital curriculum pilot imposed by the District. She also made some staff changes that needed to be made and showed decisive leadership. Perhaps there are a few more to make, but the vast majority of teachers there are knowledgeable, enthusiastic and committed to the kids' success. Comments by other reviewers stating that basically everything is horrible are clearly sweeping overgeneralizations. My children have gotten excellent educations there. When there have been issues, proactive and professional communication on my part with the teachers has generally worked very well for me. They have been very responsive. It is a change from elementary school, however - teachers do not send constant communications. This is true at any middle school. Parents have to do more outreach to teachers. But at HCMS they respond. The guidance counselors are great and the Music department is simply amazing. I do not doubt that some families have had a bad experience, but most of the students and parents love it here.
