This is a top notch school. Based on 3 other elementary school (2 were non magnet) my kids went to, I would say this is by far the best. The parental involvement is very high and the staff very receptive. Another highly rated elementary school, I can't even get the staff to return my voicemails. But MSA the staff AND parents really care.Yes your child needs to sorta fit into a cookie cutter mold. They can't be too left field. If your child can't sit still and needs to be medicated to behave, then maybe this school isn't for them (I had one like that that couldn't get in). You have to realize MSA has the latitude to pick the cream of the crop. Just like the Ivy League schools takes the cream of the crop so does MSA. They have high expectations and it's challenging and having 2 kids that have gone there, it really is a huge privilege and honor to have a child attend MSA.

A great school, with wonderful teachers, extremely competent administration, and a plethora of learning and enrichment opportunities. And there is plenty of remediation for those in need - no idea what the reviewer below could have possibly experienced.Rated the #3 school in the entire state last yer...for great reasons!

we started at this school with one principal who was great but left the school after the principal change. As another parent wrote they are terrible if your child does not fit into the mold and we too were told to medicate our child. They say they offer remediation but they do not like to offer it, they strictly want results. My child did great and then struggled the last year there. we pulled them out and guess what all A's again.. hmmm I don't think medication was the answer. . There are some wonderful teachers there but unfortunately they are restricted by the administration! Perhaps you should not be a school that encourages creativity but lacks it in your teaching process

My family and son have had the worst experience with this school. They pressured my husband and I in to medicating my child. He is 5 and in Kindergarten. They marked him on black, red and sent him home with referrals daily. The teachers yell at him and sends letters home daily. He has never hit anyone. He had sitting still and talking problems. The school calls to ask if I have forgot to medicate my child. They are nasty to me when I drop him off or withdrawl him early. Today I pick him up from school and he is slurring his words, lethargic and hardly able to stand... No one from the school called me. His teacher actually emailed to say he had a better day. Really!!! What did he do sleep through class?? To parents considering MSW if your child doesn't fit into a perfect little mold find another school.

I am student of 6 years now at madison street and i LOVE IT!!! THE teachers and staff are so caring to everyone! of course there are 1 or 2 teachers the might be rough but other than that this school has so much to offer! This is my 5th grade year and it is great! The principal and assistant principal and dean are AMAZING!!! I hope you decide for your child to go here. These were words from an actual student of madison street. I hope your child will pick this school!
