They literally ruined my first year of highschool. I was bullied, failing, and had no help whatsoever. Please do not send your children. DO NOT SEND CHILDREN TO FMMA

I enrolled my child in Francis Marion Military Academy for the 14'-15' school year, and after seeing how my AB honor roll student went from A's and B's on her report card to C's and D's in the second semester was a shock as I had no warning due to the fact that the school was so unorganized as to be unable to send out mid term interims. The attitude of most of the teachers was poor, the few that actually cared were a blessing, but not enough to keep other students from failing. My child was shown an R rated Spanish speaking film that showed both violence as well as foul language, she now knows how to swear in Spanish, without my knowledge or consent as the Spanish teacher did not think she needed to send out parental consent forms. The school has major financial difficulties, as well as having to find a new Army officer to head up the JROTC program as Col. Watson is no longer at the school. This school has many, many, problems in my opinion that have contributed to the poor experience my child had while attending this school as well. The lack of pertinent information from the school as to what was happening at the school and with the events for the extra curricular teams was extremely frustrating as the rumor mill was always spreading ever more doom and gloom predictions. I realized that the current state of affairs in this school was not where it should be after 7 or more years of existence and it was not worth the scholastic career of my child to wait till they got their act together if they ever do. I know that no school is perfect, but I will not bank the future of my child on an administration that keeps making the same mistakes over and over, looking for a new outcome.

Taking my son out of another Marion County School and enrolling him in FMMA was the best decision we could have made. Knowing our child's education is so very important we wanted a school that would challenge him, both academically as well as socially. I'm sorry to say that many other schools in the county do not take bullying seriously. After the initial interview with FMMA we felt comfortable that they do NOT tolerate bullying. Having an introverted child that has been bullied for many yrs we are relieved to see our son enjoy going to school and excel! If there was 10 stars I would give this school all of them. The entire staff starting with the ladies that greet you as you enter the school, the administration, amazing teachers, and the cadets are genuinely caring and are there to help each child succeed! Colonel Watson takes his position in the school seriously and I can't thank him enough for giving our son a chance at a better education. Best high school in Marion County!!

The Geometry End of Course exam scores came in on Friday and I am pleased to report that all students whose cohort requires the Geometry EOC to graduate (9th graders) did indeed pass the test, giving us 100% pass rate, the best in the district for that cohort. In addition, our percentage of 10th graders who passed the test (73%) was the best in the district, and exceeded the state average by 18 percentage points! Finally, all Geometry students passed the course this school year! Woo Hoo! Kudos to the fantasitc Geometry teacher, who goes above and beyond to help his students!

Just moved here from Indiana. My son researched this school a year an half before we got here. He didn't want to go anywhere else. We granted his wish just days ago. Here is what i've found so far. They're awesome. My husband, son and myself went in for an interview where all our questions we fully answered. The director has went above anything i've ever seen. This is def. the school to be in!! I see some complaining of fundraising. But let's be honest here. Fundraising helps the school as well as your student. There are so many things it takes to educate a child. I will be heading over to the site an making a small donation first thing in the morning. Because i'm so impressed with this system. Thank you FMMA for making our move a little smother on our son. Moving from a different state and losing contact with the friends you've always had at 16 is tuff. You've really impressed our family!!
