As a parent who has seen this school grow over the past few years as my children have all graduated in the past 5 years, the difference of this school is nothing less than impressive. With a brand new administration and custodial staff, the school spirt as well as the overall image of Miami Sunset Senior high has chanced dramatically. It was an honor to be a parent of 3 graduates of Miami Sunset as the teachers and staff made my children's high school experience exactly what it should be. The teachers are hard workers who strive in the effort to fully allow students to reach their maximum potentials. My graduates of Miami Sunset have now all been accepted into local colleges and universities and are constantly making the deans list with high honors. I thank MSSH for guiding them into the right path. MSSH may have a negative reputation but I am proud to say, from a parent point of view, that the recent changes this school has made will only get better in the next years to come. My message for parents who are hesitant in enrolling your child into Miami Sunset is the following: The academics are incredible, from medical magnet programs to engineering to sports medicine. Your child will strive in this school with the help of the amazing teachers and staff. Highly recommend joining the MSSH Knight Family.

The adult Ed didn't have almost anyone working there to help out. One of the classes didn't even have a teacher, and everything was disorganized and crazy there. Everybody tells you something different. At one point they put a young kid (probably 18 or 20) to sit as the instructor and he didn't even know how to help the students on their computer software. He explained he worked with the lower level student on another software and was not familiar with theirs. Where was the actual teacher?!? The esol adult ed. students don't learn the basics of English, not even the alphabet. As it is, they seem to have dismissed 3 teachers for the computer class. Then they wanted to teach us without any Spanish. It becomes very confusing and I leave the school having to basically teach myself on my own. This school was helpful but not very good. You get what you pay for. It was a decent stepping stone but don't expect to learn too much English here.

"I was walking out of school and there was a giant roach in the hallway. I had to act like I wasn't freaking out on the inside because there were people around. But this school is truly disgusting. I switched in the middle of my freshman year from Broward not even knowing that this school existed, to be honest. But when I first saw it I thought it looked like a prison. My first thought was ""How can students enjoy when there isn't even any windows or anything? It looks like a prison."" I would give ANYTHING to go back to my old school. I'm a junior now so it's a little too late but I miss is so much. Sunset doesn't even have an actual football field or track. It's ridiculously poor because Dr. Lucia Cox is putting all the money into god knows what."

This school let's mold grow in its halls and in the milk containers, they let cockroaches just wander at will. The drinking water is dirtier than the Ganges river. They don't allow the students to take books off the shelves, all around this is the worst place to receive an education, due to the disgusting conditions these students are subjected to.

The conditions are disgusting and unsanitary! There is mold in the food, it's infested with cockroaches, the school drinking water supply is undrinkable, brown and yellow. No one is allowed to check books out of the library for fear of messing them up. They aren't even allowed to take the books off the shelves! There are no toilets in many bathrooms, and much of the school is filthy. This school should have charges pressed against it!
