This school is awful. The new principle is even worse than Jensen from last year! I can't believe this, I'm getting my kid out of that terrible place.

I worked as a teacher at this school. I can tell you from someone on the behind scenes that this school is the most unorganized and unprofessional school there is. There is no way I would send my children there. First off, this school is runned like a business. This means they want as much money as they get coming in and as little money going out, which also means way too many students and not even teachers and other staff. This is one of many reasons their teacher turn over rate is so high. Also, they do not have the support and resources that district schools have. If your child has special accomodations it is likely that GCS can't meet your child's needs. And even though they know they can't they won't tell you that so that they get more money. I had several students who needed speech for a specific amount of minutes per week, like several other students at GCS. However, theh couldn't "afford" to hire the speech specialist for more than part time which means tons of children were not getting what they needed to become successful. Fact of the matter is a charter school, especially GCS does not care of their students or their teachers. They only care about the amount of money that is coming in and making sure too much isn't going out. Please do your research about Charter Schools and GCS specifically before sending your child there.

I was a teacher at this school and was given the highest ratings the year I was there. However, I was not renewed for the next year because a parent complained about me because of an incident that occurred outside of school between her son and my son. she told them that if I stayed, she would pull her kids 5 kids out so they let me go to appease her. I should point out that I was rated Highly Effective last year and expect the same this year, so it's their loss. I hate to sound egotistical, but it's also your loss if you choose to send your child as they are more interested in pleasing parents than keeping highly effective teachers for engaging instruction. TEACHERS BEWARE: If you currently work for them or have worked for CSUSA or have in the past, They WILL NOT even acknowledge that you were employed by them! KEEP A COPY OF YOUR EVALUATION AS PROOF! STEAL IT IF YOU HAVE TO! Most districts will not hire you if they can't verify references and work experience.

Gateway Charter School (Charter Schools USA) is categorized as a foreign for-profit corporation!!! Their goal is to make money, period! They suck money out of communities. Teachers only teach to the test. They will also politely turn away parents who have Special ED or ESOL kids because they don't or won't accommondate them. There are always fundraisers. They charge students $2.00 to wear jeans on dress down days. They sell tons of chocolate bars after school for $1.00. They make money from children every day. They exploit teachers by paying them very small salaries ($33,000 with a Masters, less with a Bachelors), no salary increases each year, and NO pension. If you are an experienced teacher or a new teacher, do not even apply there. You will regret it if you do. You will be exploited and worked to death. Teachers who work at Gateway Charter School have one goal and that is to find a teaching job someplace else. It's that bad of a place to work. Teachers come and go all year because of the low salary and horrible working conditions, and there is no stability. Any school that has a picture of George W. Bush in the lobby should tell you something. RUN! LOOK ELSEWHERE!
