I feel extremely blessed to be able to send my children to Freedom 7. This school is amazing & they have fantastic leadership. Mrs. Zimmerman knows what she’s doing & the entire school runs like a well-oiled machine thanks to her. Before we came to Freedom 7 the admin didn’t give me a warm fuzzy & there were some parents who said negative things about it so I was a little concerned. I shouldn’t have been! It’s been the best thing that’s EVER happened to my family. It’s almost hard to believe we have such a wonderful elementary school (for free no less!) right here in Cocoa Beach. The parents are ALL involved, which as a working parent is a major relief to me. There are some days I simply can’t be there to help but I know there will be tons of other parents there to assist so I don’t have to be concerned. The only downside I can see to the school is that there is quite a bit of turnover due to the extraneous work on the teachers. They don’t get paid extra for all the added work they due to maintain IB certs, attend “required” fundraisers, and all the other administrative work that comes with being a Freedom 7 teacher. So some teachers naturally don’t stay long. I just wish the district would pay these teachers the extra they deserve for the supplemental work.

Very happy and blessed to be part of the Freedom 7 family for 7 years now and still going! There is so much more offered at Freedom 7 to enrich the students learning. Yes, it is harder than other elementary schools but the main difference is all/most of the parents are taking an active role in their students education. This is the key to higher test scores and overall the students are all learning to be independent thinkers. Very cool. Highly recommend!

My youngest son was in Freedom 7. It may a great school for first born children, but not for my youngest. The environment was very stressful. Communication with principal was difficult for me. Then 5th grade teacher decided that homework is an option: if the work was not good quality enough, then the child could CHOSE to bring it home and do it at home. Perhaps that would have been well with my older two children, but for my gifted but emotionally immature 11 year old, it was hell. I moved him out of Freedom 7, put him in Tropical Elementary and he is doing much better, relaxed and enjoying school. It is better to have a more relaxed feel in the younger grades and then crank the heat up for middle school and high school. I was afraid of leaving my sensitive child in this very rigid school would turn him off of education. There is no space for the child that does not fit in a strict environment.

Initially we were very excited to be drawn to attend Freedom 7 Elementary. They have a great reputation and our first year (K) was great. The next year was also pretty good. But then things started going downhill. Now, after 4 years, we are really seeing their true colors. Their reputation? That's ALL they care about! Heaven forbid you have a child that isn't a super-achiever, because that's all they really want. They refuse to help but simply say that "I'm sure your child would do fine at a regular school." The pressure they put on students, parents, and teachers is way over the top. My excitement has turned to frustration and resentment. If your kid is a straight A student, you'll be fine. If not, good luck, because they don't care about the kid, they care about the school ranking.

Absolutely the best school, and it is free! My children all attended private Catholic schools in the area, then transferred to Freedom 7. We were so glad to have made the switch. The quality of teachers and education is amazing, and I love the uniforms. I wish I had this type of education available to me - for free! This is a free private school, with better academics. My children have learned more about moral character then they did in the Catholic school.
