All five of my children participated in their education; they did not receive an education...If you want your children to grow into adults that take charge of their lives, send them to The Montessori School.

Most parents speak glowingly of their children and are understandably positively biased when it comes to their accomplishments. I am very proud of both of my sons and the fine young adults they have become. I also acknowledge that part of the reason they have developed as they have is that they both were lucky enough to attend The Montessori School in Wilton Connecticut. The Montessori School is an AMI accredited Montessori program which currently serves children from the toddler level through the sixth grade level. After the toddler level students are in the same classroom for three years which enables them to progress from the newbies in the class to the most senior members of that class. It allows them to learn how to interact with other children and ultimately, help the younger children as mentors.Follow the child is a Montessori mantra but it creates an environment in which the children thrive and grow to become independent thinkers and successful learners. The very experienced and capable staff continually observe the children to be sure that they are learning everything they need to know but also becoming the people we want them to be.My children also loved their time at The Montessori School. Our only hope was that they could have remained in that community longer.

Disappointed, school clearly held kids back slowed learning in the primary program to allow for higher enrollment numbers and keep accreditations. Our children were atleast 1yr behind as compared to public schools once we found this out we pulled them for the following year. Stay away save your money for college

We have been members of this community for the past 8 years, and would stay for 8 more, if only we had more kids! There are so many things to love here, starting with the Montessori method itself, and continuing with the school's very successful execution of that philosophy through the dedicated commitment of teachers, administration, parents, and the board. It's hard to believe that a teaching methodology that was developed over 100 years ago was so far ahead of its time, that it's teaching the skillsets that our kids will need in the 21st century - leadership and teamwork, communication skills, problem-solving, creativity, curiosity, etc. In my own academic experience I had to wait until graduate school before the importance of those skills became apparent - and here they're starting to learn them as toddlers! The school is VERY reasonable compared to other private schools in Fairfield County, but even at full price this would be well worth it. The kids all end up going to their first choice schools after their Montessori experience (Hopkins, GFA, etc.), so the skills they pick up at the school pay dividends academically and socially long after they've graduated.

As a family, we have a combined fifteen years' experience with the Montessori School. Both our children enrolled at a very young age. One of the things I remember about my public school education is weeks of repetition at the beginning of each year as your "new" teacher tries to get everyone back up to speed after the long summer off. The more differences there are within the class, the harder it is to put all students on the same footing. At the Montessori School, you will spend three or four consecutive years with the same teacher. That creaste a lovely continuity - for teacher and family both. My advice to prospective parents is to visit during the school day. You will know right away if the style and culture are the right fit for your family.
