Anna H. Rockwell School Ratings & Reviews

This school is a disgrace. Bethel parents can fool themselves all they want, but even they ones who speak positively in public will share their true feelings in private. Parents, have you ever wondered why the elementary schools rate high on sites like this, but the rating decreases as the students go to Johnson, then lower t the middle school, then even lower at BHS (a pathetic 6..6 out of 10 gets you an F on a test. After having my child a Rockwell, it is clear to me why. They do not teach here..students do not learn to think, figure or reason..they learn to take standardized tests. THAT is it. That works in younger grades, but clearly does not set up the students for success in later grades. Think about it, why else would student success drop every time they advance to the next older school. BECAUSE THESE CHILDREN CAN'T THINK and regurgitating information doesn't cut it as kids get older. After giving Rockwell a second chance this year, this is it. I will not put my child's entire education on the line with the zombie factory.

I think the previous poster from Dec. 14 2014 summed it all up. Bullying is not addressed, students police each other, children have no appropriate consequences (my own included). Growth can't be achieved in a negative atmosphere.

Awful. Disappointed by staff and my child's experience here. If I had to call the school for one reason, it took ten calls for the reason to sink in.

I used to go to Rockwell School as a kid, between 7 and 9 years old or so. It was around 1986. I remember it as the time of my life, great infrastructure, kind and professionnal teachers, good general mentality. It felt really good to live and learn in the United-States, after years of hardship and difficulties in the French system of Education, where the pressure starts right from the Elementary School. The American system is far more effective, pleasant and enjoyable than the French. If I have kids one day I want them to learn in an American school. PIERRE FROELICH.

Our experience at Rockwell has been excellent. I cannot say enough good things about the patient and loving teachers, the administration and everyone that works in the school from aides, to the cafeteria staff and cleaning crew. I get a community feeling at Rockwell and everyone is welcome to get involved with the school. The academics are fair and challenge the students and extra help is provided to those who need it. My younger one had special help in Circle of Friends with speech and I could not believe how far he came the last school year in his development, it truly amazed me and helped him with his confidence to participate and learn. The PTO works very hard to raise money in order to provide the kids with extra tools in the classroom that are not covered in the budget, and they also create fun activities that give the kids a much needed break from school work. I am very appreciative that my kids go to Rockwell School, and my kids are too!
