Both of my young children attend school here. My oldest has been here two years already and will begin her third year next fall. My youngest just started in the toddler program. Our experience has been that this is an excellent place for our children to establish a strong foundation in their social emotional growth. This school is not for everyone as their philosophy of respecting children and allowing them freedom to explore and navigate their own learning may not resonate with parents who believe in authoritarian parenting or schooling that is rigid and very structured. This school is very child led and believes in allowing children’s interests dictate their learning from a “power with” perspective rather than providing a rigid curriculum from a “power over” perspective.

This is the best school I've worked at. The way that Patchwork operates is compassionate, responsible, and free. I feel valued, I feel that the students and families are valued & heard, and I truly think that this is a safe place in which young people can explore their physical and socioemotional boundaries. 10/5 stars.

5 stars plus! Patchwork is a wonderful community. They're doing something different and I feel passionately about the love and care they put into every student and family. My kid loves coming to school, and that's by pretty special I think!

"Patchwork is an amazing, unique place, the likes of which I've never seen anywhere else. Many places tout the ""whole child"" approach, but the agenda only briefly touches on social-emotional intelligence and self-regulation---the building blocks that we need as humans living in a heavily social society. My daughter was a student at Patchwork from 2-7, and those years have given her an incredible foundation to interact with her peers, the world around her, and with herself. I am very grateful!"

My son is 3.5 years old and has been attending this school since he was 1.5 years old. I could not be happier about the care and community found at The Patchwork School. I appreciate the focus on social emotional wellbeing as I feel it has helped my son grow his confidence and empathy. In addition it helps support in innate curiosity about the world by allowing him to share his interests and research them further. I feel so lucky to have found a solid foundation for him in his first years of schooling.
