We have been there 4 years, through former and new principals. I have found that kids that are high performing and popular will do fine. You will see the same kids get recognized over and over. There is no support for the average student that starts to struggle. Head in the sand is their motto. Teachers and administration seem overly focused on extreme behavior issues and offer no encouragement for average to below average students that have not acted out. They are quick to let students make decisions (not necessarily a bad thing), but do nothing to hold them accountable or encourage higher performance. Late work is perfectly acceptable (I am sure this helps the school look better) and with the exception of one class there was never repercussion. I have repeatedly asked for help for my student only to get ignored.

Don't let your children go to this school! Bullying is the norm and nothing is done by the administration. Horrible school!

It's a great school to go to. Went there for the full 4 years, and witnessed a lot of events. Yeah, it may be true that some of the students weren't acting their best, but you'll have that at any school. The teachers are great once you get to know them. The rest of the staff is the same way. (Yes, even the principal is awesome.) All in all, the only thing that I would change is the student:teacher ratio. Even then, it's understandable when you have over 1700 students on one campus at a time. I believe the school is under appreciated. People don't contribute as much as they should. If everyone pitched in to make the school better, even if it meant one day of trash duty around the school, the school would be the best on this side of the mesa. Heck, it already is. That means that it'll make it that much better. For those that want to know, I am a graduate from the class of 2011, and if it wasn't for GJHS's caring staff, I probably wouldn't of been able to start college this upcoming fall. I also got 4th in SkillsUSA Auto Repair and 6th in Ford AAA State Competitions. Without their help, I wouldn't of gotten those, either. Just remember, it's always better than no education. Go Tigers!

My daughter came from a very structured school and the first day she came home from school she was appaled by the behavior of the students and the staff. Very old and not taken care of. You cannot get ahold of the principal if you have issues, questions are not answered. They are not held accountable for their actions. The teachers are busy 'doing their own thing'. I tried to speak to the pirncipal about the holiday program and no luck, no call.

A ripping good educational school. Safe and strict, but my kids still have fun.
