Poudre Community Academy Ratings & Reviews

I used to think this school was really great, and previously gave it a 5 star rating. This year, the school has gone downhill big-time! I hardly find a good word to say about it! It is a shame what bad teaching staff do, and gossip among the teachers and staff members. I only see two decent teachers now, and the counselors are so interfering and are constant liars. It is such a shame to see this happen. P.C.A really needs to look at their grading and their discrimination practices nowadays, and their unfairness. Gossip is rife among the school, and unfortunately it is allowed to go on rather than be stopped. It is like the staff enjoy the drama. They are crushing kids morale and distribute unfairness in all they do.

Although PTC is capable of achieving success amongst the kids of their school, I have come to feel as though the 'caring' staff are too quick to pull the trigger when it comes to discipline. Some believe that this is necessary, we are talking about kids who in the past have made mistakes. However, how can we be expected to succeed in their schooling when we are constantly being punished for things that can be called minor? Throughout my time, I have witnessed suspensions and other forms of discipline for things that appear nowhere in the districts policies. PTC claims their goal is to form a strong, healthy community, but this goal cannot be achieved until the staff learn to accept people and try to help them, instead of accepting them temporarily, then turning their backs on them and considering them a lost cause.

This school meets the needs of a demographic not usually successful with typical high school issues. The rigor remains typical of PSD's fantastic challenge; however, it keeps the classroom size small, thereby offering a better teacher/student relationship. The teachers are understanding and firm in their instruction. This motivates students who may not have success in other educational settings.

The school is the best I've seen in a long time, I will be returning next year because of its small size, atmosphere, and the kind teachers. Recommend only matured students willing to spend time for school to seek this school out for an education, its as good as any real school.

My name is Christina Gillis and i attended PTC for half of my ninth grade year. The teachers and the students are all wonderful people. I would encourage anyone who needs a little extra help in their school to attend PTC. Not only do you get the extra help, but if you fall behind in credits they will also help you earn the credits you need to pass. Thanks to all my teachers and students for the encouragement and help i was given when i attended!
