The academics at BECS are just fine. My problem with this school is the dated safety measures. I do not judge other parents for being ok with this and accepting the warmth and openness of the school culture. For myself and my family this was an uncomfortable policy. In this day and age safety in school is of the utmost importance, which is why I've given BECS a #2 rating. The teachers are wonderful, the principal is helpful but the director of the school is not open to making sufficient and more current safety changes, which most other schools have in place. This is why we no longer attend Bromeley East Charter School.

Both of my daughters have been going since Kindergarten. This Fall they will be in 4th and 6th. The administration cares about your children's education and the teachers are passionate. Highly recommend this school.

My son previously attended Pennock. He was borderline to be held back 2 years in a row. My last year I moved my children to BECS. All of my kids love their school. Staff are friendly, teachers are helpful. My son's test scores have jumped drastically. This is due to the hard work of his teacher and intervention team. They gave him confidenace and gave him all the right tools. He looks forward for this upcoming year. I am grateful of all the hard work BECS as invested into my son.

BECS has been great for our son. He has had many great years here and has very caring and compassionate teachers. We have only had one major issue and it was handled immediately with amazing communication. This last year my son started out behind in math and by the end of the year is excelling at well above his grade level. I'm so thankful we have such a caring school in our community.

I don't know what happened to this once wonderful school. It has gone from a child-centered, comfortable place where children where valued and allowed to grow and explore at their own pace, to being a school focused upon testing the kids to the point of utter exhaustion. It seems the school has moved away from it's original mission and has now become so focused upon test scores, it's all they care about. My kids used to be excited to go to school, now they dread it. Sadly, there aren't many options for good schools in Brighton and my kids have been here so long that I can't bear to remove them from the only thing they know. I am very disappointed in how this school turned. This is not the same school my children started in. The only saving grace about this school is a couple of remaining teachers that will still advocate for the kids. Most of the best teachers have "left".
