We've been at this school for 9 years now, and what I love most is the teachers. The faculty is absolutely incredible. They've been like secondary parents to my children. As my children get older, I see how much the school and the Waldorf philosophy in particluar has supported them to become strong, creative, free-thinking and capable human beings that are filled with compassion and love for their fellow human beings and for the Earth. Waldorf education focuses on creating true human beings that are ready to face the world and all of the challenges and opportunities that lie within it, rather than focusing on creating cogs in a machine that is quickly becoming obsolete and run-down. I feel so blessed to be at Shining Mountain, and so grateful for who my children are becoming!

We moved to Boulder in 2016 to attend Shining Mountain Waldorf School. We love it! I have 2 freshman and they are having a wonderful experience. They were immediately accepted into their class last year, and have thrived ever since. The faculty strikes a balance between homework and life. My girls have a depth of learning fostered by connections between the heart and mind. I encourage anyone to come and check out this school.

We have spent five wonderful years at SMWS. Our daughter is a freshman in the High School now and is thriving. She is engaged in her studies, has a wonderful group of friends and the faculty is awesome. We could not be happier.

I have raised two kids successfully through the BVSD school system and I have never dealt with such blatant bullying at a school by administrators as I have at this school. My husband and I were enchanted by the whole idea of Waldorf giving it a try for our youngest and unfortunately discovered the grizzly underbelly in no time. I agree with another reviewer to the letter when he wrote that, "the director of the school is not cut out for running a school or a business.   She is dominant, controlling, and fearful.   The placement of this person was made in haste by a rather soft Board of Directors.  She is unqualified, unprofessional and lacks boundaries." She also lacks the skill to competently resolve conflict however in this particular circumstance using fabrication and deceit as her tool. One must realize that when you choose a private school, you have lost all power. They can use whatever trumped up charges they please to get rid of what they determine to be a "problem family." Their board of directors are employees, friends, and parents so how could one possibly find an unbiased ear. At least in public school, there are checks, balances and accountability, something this school sorely lacks. Please be mindful and discerning about this particular school.

I attended SMWS from kindergarten through 12th grade, and my appreciation for the school has only grown over the years since I graduated. At that time, I would not have believed how many doors this great education would open for me. But I know that I am not an exception. To my knowledge, every single student from my graduating class went on to attend excellent colleges, and I am not the only one to have also earned a law or other higher degree. Perhaps the ultimate endorsement an alumnus can give a school is to send your own children there, and my wife and I are sending our children to SMWS. In fact, we moved back from Washington, DC in part to send our kids to this school. Our experience with the current teachers and school administration has been very positive.
