Friends School has been one of the largest blessings in my two daughters lives, and we are so fortunate to be able to send them there. We tried some very highly rated public schools but found that the 'mass production' style of education really didn't work for our girls, particularly our oldest daughter. We needed an environment where the children were encouraged to spend more time exploring their unique interests and questions, versus stressing out about the next assessment on a computer. Friends provides this. We needed an environment where an emphasis was placed on building community and relationships, on social/emotional learning, and on collaborative problem solving. Friends provides this. Small class sizes, super engaged teachers, and a strong parent community result in a lot of support for our young learners. Lessons are hands on, interactive, and immersive. No death by worksheet here! My kids look forward to going to school each day - my oldest daughter even gets upset if she has to miss a day of school due to illness or appointment. I'm always aware of what is happening in the classroom, thanks to the excellent communication from teachers. I appreciate that Art and Music aren't afterthoughts, and that PE is more than just dodgeball but also teaches it's own lessons about community and teamwork. Every child should have the opportunity to LOVE going to school and not feel like it is a chore. Friends School provides this, and I can honestly say it is the best gift we can provide our kids. I'm so grateful we can send them there and that school like Friends exist.

My family and I recently relocated to Boulder from Austin, Texas. Finding the best school fit for our 2nd grader and Pre-K student were at the top of the requirements-list, in order to make a smooth cross-country transition for our youngsters. Friends School has exceeded our expectations in every way imaginable. The academic focus is top-notch, yet is wrapped in a tender and loving approach that meets each child where they are along the learning journey. Friends School lives its core values, celebrating the uniqueness of each child, inviting all parents to participate in the school community, and building lasting friendships (both children and parents, alike!). Here are just a few samplings of why we love Friends: -The small classroom sizes (14-20 max per class, and only one class per grade)-The fact that our children are with the same teacher for two years, providing more time to intimately get to know each child and their families -The communication! The teachers are in constant communication with each parent, but the staff & administration are, as well. We get consistent updates on school happenings, opportunities to get together, and opportunities to volunteer -The bedrock of instilling and nurturing Kindness as a value and attribute, woven into the fabric of daily teachings, reflections, and curriculum -Every employee knows our children's names, and my husband's and mine, driving home the community feel -Frequent opportunities to gather, informally and formally, via examples like monthly breakfast potlucks, dinner picnics, and parent social hours -Grade- and school-specific events that invite parents into the classroom to see, touch & experience what our children are learning - ... and so much more! We are so incredibly fortunate to have found this haven for our children, and we are proud to call Friends School an important ingredient to our community bond within the Boulder area.

We are new to FriendsΓÇÖ School this year, and we couldnΓÇÖt be happier! After we moved to CO, our daughter attended a well liked public school. A ΓÇÿgoodΓÇÖ kid in a large school, she slid under the radar in many ways. After one year, her love of school and academics declined noticeably, and we heard more about tests, stress and whether or not sheΓÇÖd be in ΓÇ£GTΓÇ¥ than anything else. Something had to change. After one day at FriendsΓÇÖ School, there was a significant shift - we were hearing about every detail of the school day again, from a new math strategy she learned from a friend to her excitement about an upcoming camping trip. Her academics are once again sailing, and she comes home from school capable and eager to learn more on her own! For us, FriendsΓÇÖ School is more than just igniting our daughterΓÇÖs love of learning. FriendsΓÇÖ School is a community of educators who will support her journey as a deeply caring critical thinker in our world. We are so thankful to be part of such a vibrant community!

My oldest boy just graduated last year after 8 years there and my second boy is in year 6 there and I continue to be pleased with the staff, teachers and community of parents. My experience is that Friends provides an individualized approach to each child's learning (my boys are very different in learning styles/abilities). This learning includes not just academic subjects but social and emotional learning. This has allowed my children to grow and have confidence in themselves. Each child has a unique way of learning and developing and Friends honors that while ensuring that they learn. There is also plenty of support from the staff and teachers if parents have any questions.
